A Question of Spinoffs and Channel 7

This is jsut a general wondering....

Gateworld reported in January that when filming of the Stargate spinoff series starts after Sg1 is finished that it may go straight to syndication instead of going through a cable network first, like Showtime.

Does anyone knows what this means for Australia? Does Channel 7 buy from syndicated channels or from showtime itself?

I ask these questions becuase I'm wondering if channel 7 buys stargate directly from showtime as opposed to fox (who does syndication in the US), then will we get the spin off in Australia? What will happen if we dont ever get the spinoff?

Well Fox handles the distribution here in Aus, so I really can't say. I don't think that we would buy directly from Showtime, but I can't be sure.

We weren't that far behind the US in the beginning... only a couple of months, but good 'ol i7 has dragged that out to about 8 months behind now.

What if we don't get the spinoff ????

Don't even contemplate the thought ! I'll be migrating to the nearest country that does !

I would have thought that channel seven would get the episodes strait from MGM, as MGM makes and owns stargate, showtime is just the channel which has exclusive rights to the show in the usa.

Exactly JAD, Showtime has the US syndication rights... Not worldwide (Thus the closure of the web site to outside the USA).

yup..
notice at the end of the episodes it says "MGM International Television Distribution" With the tiger going "roar"

My 3yo son loves it... actually, I think it's the only reason he watches Stargate with me... then wonders around the house for the next hour going 'Roar' !!

Then whenever he comes into my computer room, and see's the Stargate pictures, he always notices the small MGM logo in the bottom corner... and you guessed it... more 'Roar' :rolly2: :rolly2:
