It does beat the UK as far as Reading is concerned, but 10 years ago, just after the army and four years at uni, I worked in London for a Film Company and saw more stars than I could shake a stick at.....and I'm talking real stars.....Jodie Foster....Anthony Hopkins, Emma Thompson, Kenneth Branagh, Sir Ian McKellen, Terence Stamp, to name but a few..... When it comes to real actors or stars London would be hard to beat, and that's in the UK.
Now if you are talking Stargate stars, then I have to say that none of them are actually stars except perhaps for RDA who is a very minor 'celebrity'. The others aren't all that well known outside of Stargate. Even Don S Davis is more a character actor than a star. The 'Stars' of Stargate are only stars in the limited Stargate fandom environment.
Vancouver is a cosmopolitan beautiful city, full of lots of interesting stuff, to see and to do. I personally don't find the idea of passing Michael Shanks or Chris Judge in the street or sitting next to them in a restaurant to be an exciting or heartstopping prospect.
If Cronus sat next to me in a restaurant I would be shocked, mainly because he doesn't exist. However, I'd probably recover fast enough to tackle him round the knees! Faint heart ne'er won fair lady.....or gentleman. If the actor who played him sat to me, I'd like to think I would behave in a civilised fashion and allow him to eat his dinner in peace....if he spoke to me, then I would speak back to him. He's a human being for heaven's sake....he takes a dump, eats, farts, loses his temper and drools on his pillow, just like everyone else. I certainly wouldn't behave like a wide eyed hysterical breathless teenager.... mainly because I'm not one.....and I don't believe in setting people up on pedestals. They are no better than me.
I don't envy anyone living in the US particularly, I've lived there and although its a beautiful country in many places, it has many problems and the lifestyle as portrayed in films and TV is not what it's shown to be. America's lifestyle is propped up by low paid workers who went there because they thought the streets were paved with gold. They have horrific poverty and worse, child poverty..... they are a country who have refused to ratify the UN Declaration of Human Rights....most especially children's rights. There are very rich and well off people there, but mostly people struggle by exactly as they do here in the UK.
Canada seems marginally different, but I have not seen enough of it to give an opinion. I'll let you all know when I get back from Vancouver.
I am still looking forward to going though.....but there'll be no postings from me on whether I managed to get a date with Cronus or not ROTFLMAO......that's be between him and me! Of course....he might stink a bit considering he's been dead for the past couple of seasons!
