Fierce Vowelless One
This is a complicated game of one-upmanship. I'll name an author who has won a literary award (preferably someone in the scifi/fantasy/horror genres), what the award was for and when it was awarded. The next player's job is to find another author who won the first award and another award or a winner of the same award in a later year.
This game will take research and contemplation. You want to keep it going so you don't want to overstep on your 'calling', if the first author won a Nebula in 1999 you don't want to use as the next author someone who won in 2004 as you've skipped tons of authors in the intervening years. Also, some awards are more cherished and well thought of as others so you must use your best discretion as to which award would 'one-up' another. You can use any award as long as you haven't made it up and if it seems a little more obscure than others, a link to a website with information on the award would be nice.
You can use the same author again as long as that author has been upped several posts previously - obviously we'd want to avoid just naming the same author over and over again.
The whole point is, of course, to learn of new authors, learn new stuff about familiar authors, etc. and just to have fun .
So I'll start with the 1995 First Place Sapphire Award winner, Dara Joy for Knight of a Trillion Stars. The Sapphires are awarded by the Science Fiction Romance Newsletter every year, beginning in 1995 for the best science fiction romance of the year. You can read more about them here: http://www.sfronline.com/sapphire.htm
Who can beat that??!!
