Janeway called "sir"

In workforce and some other eps, janeway's orders are responded to by "yes sir". A goof-up?

Didn't she tell people not to call her 'Ma'am'?

Yes she did, in a very early episode, but she also told them not to call her "Sir" at the same time "I prefer Captain", or something to that effect was how it went...

I think it is just a continuity error - writers not keeping up with earlier developments, but you think someone would have caught it, she got called "Sir" quite a lot in the last two seasons.

Didn't Janeway collect a fourth pip during Voyagers progress through the heavens?
Seem to remember Chakotay stabbing her with an extra one at some point. If so, well promotion can change peoples opinions.

Do you mean fourth pip as in she was promoted from Commander to Captain? If so, then no - she was the Captain, with four pips in tow, right from the beginning of the series.

Apart from the designations handed out to the Maquis and Tom Paris at the beginning, the only Voyager character to get a promotion has been Tuvok - from Lt to Lt Commander. Paris was busted down to Ensign and then re-promoted (is that a real word???) during the last few seasons.

She was The Captain of USS Voyager.
But I thought I recalled her fitting a new 'fourth' pip for being a captain.
There is a difference between the two.
Perhaps it was on 'Dress' and she had never got around to correcting things?

I think they should have kept it neutral and just referred to her as captain. Giving her a gender oriented name doesn't really work either way.

yeah i noticed Kim calling her Sir a few times soon. I was kinda doing homework at the same time as listening to it (prolly why i get such rubbish marks hehe!) and I did a double-take of the TV...wierd.
