Are you a Buffy fan that wants to get rid of one of the supporting cast? Where better for them than Angel? :wink2:

Are you an Angel fan that wants more Buffy links?

Do you love Angel, but your fave character got left behind in Sunnydale?

If one of these characters had to move to (or come back for) Angel, which would you prefer? And, if you can be bothered to think one up, what pretext might you use to explain their arrival in LA?

I voted Tara - I think she has ooodles of potential, she could easily become a big bad, or a powerful ally.

Just have to think up a good reason for her move now!

I voted Oz. I really liked him and so if he can't be around Willow he should go to Angel, he has even been on the show before and he would fit right in.
My second choice would be Giles but I don't think he would fit in aswell over there.

I think a visit from Giles would be great - he certainly wouldn't be able to assume the position of authority over the rest of the cast in the same way that he did in BTVS, for one, Wes is the in-charge guy now, and the newer characters wouldn't have any frame of reference for him.

It could be an interesting situation for Giles - what would he bring to the table if his usual roles were already filled? He is just about the last person I can imagine going to LA voluntarily (unless he regressed to a teen again!). Perhaps some dealings with Wolfram & Hart? Maybe one of his "Ripper" spin-off mysteries could bring him in touch with the evil law firm?

He would be good for a few episodes, but not permanently.

As for Oz, I never really warmed to him that much :(

honestly - i think the cast on Angel is big enough as it is -- it's actually starting to get crowded in there - b/c they have Angel, Cordy, Gunn, Fred, Wes, Lorne (he's on all the time now), and another character (spoiler for season 3, so i won't list a name) -

that's already a lot of ppl - it's kinda nearing time for someone to bite the dust on Angel - not b/c we want a character to leave, but b/c the cast is getting too big - there was a similar problem on BTVS in season 4 and the 1st 1/2 of season 5 - too many ppl - so no one really got much in the way of story-line and character development

honestly - the same thing's happening on Angel - we know all kinds of stuff about Angel and Cordy, but what about Wes? or Gunn? or Fred - beyond her 5 yrs in Pylea? -- these characters need fleshing out -- what were they like before? okay - so we have a bit on Gunn, but what about Wes? yeah - he was an anal-retentive bookworm of the Watchers Council, but what abt before his arrival to Sunnydale? He knows magic - is that something they teach all the Watchers? or just something he and Giles picked up?

however, to answer your question - if they were to bring a BTVS character to Angel - i'd vote for Oz - he was a fun character - BUT!!! they have to shift him back to pre-'Wild at Heart' - b/c that's where Oz turned all weird -- and he has to be different than he was in "New Moon Rising" -

I read somewhere that James Marsters wanted Spike to move to Angel so he could get more of a storyline - now, while that would have been good way back in season 2 or so, it would suck now - why? b/c he would turn out just like he is on BTVS - the guy who hangs out in the bkgrnd and only gets a scene if Buffy needs his help w/ something --

not only that - but w/ the chip in his head still - Spike wouldn't be much more than 'decoration' on Angel - b/c Angel wouldn't want him around - and Spike's not much of a terror in his 'current state' -

Faith would be a good regular character on Angel. Her last appearance was on Angel anyway, and he helped her to come to terms with her life so it would make sense if she turned to him after getting out of jail. Then she could have a one night stand with Angel, prompting Cordelia to realise how much she is in love with him. See I am a true romantic...

yeah - Faith would be good, but i'd say skip the 'one night stand' bit -- if she's gonna 'turn her life around' - the one night stand won't work well --- she can, however, hang on Angel (not literally) and subtly do things that would provoke Cordelia (if that's the direction you wanna take - i wouldn't - but that's just me) -

Faith would be a good character - tho, i think they might avoid that, her being a Slayer and all - might almost turn the show into 'Faith, the Vampire Slayer w/ a side of Angel' - no thnx - i like the show titled as "Angel" and him being the central character - don't fix what isn't broken --- ya know?

Yeah, you are right. the cast is way too crowded - I for one would shed no tears whatsoever if they ditched Fred, or at least made her a much more minor character, like Tara. I mean, what exactly does she bring to the group? Is she only there because they saved her from slavery in Pylea? If so why is she a titles character? I have yet to see her do anything useful since she got back to LA, in fact, all she is doing IMO is making Wesley sad :(

Having said that - I don't want her to die - go figure!

Hmmmm, I remember hearing a rumour that Spike was going to move to Angel at the end of season one. It never came to anything though, and I can't really see much happening - they have done a lot of stores about Angel's evil past on the show, I think Spike showing up would just lead to many more of them. As much fun as the flashbacks are, I think I have had my fill of them for a while.

yeah - i'm not sure what Fred's purpose is -- and this goes to my big bad argument about the underuse of 'other' characters in the series (see BTVS section for much of this re: Spike and Dawn) --

the writing team for BTVS and Angel seem to 'leave out' the other characters - the stories seem to focus on the leads - now, yeah, i know the shows are Buffy and Angel - big fricking deal - there are OTHER characters listed in the cast - USE THEM! they're not decorations, they're cast members, part of the team - they need their own storylines and things to do - not just to stand around and take up space while Angel and Buffy save the day...

IMO - there should be underlying, minor story arcs for each of the characters - but hey - i'm not a member of the production staff, so my opinion doesn't count for much ---

the cast was perfect when it was Doyle, Angel, Cordy - then they killed Doyle and brought in Wes - great! 3 ppl is fine! perfect even! well, then they decided they needed Gunn - okay 4, that's not too bad, but then they tacked on Fred, and Lorne is in every episode, and the new character is apparently gonna be pretty prominent - i know for a FACT we don't need 7 ppl in the cast! BTVS has 6 - and that's too many! (actually 7 b/c Tara's in all the eps) ---

As for Spike coming to Angel - NAH! leave him on BTVS or give him his own show - 'Spike's world o' demons' or something ---

Yeah I do agree there are a lot of characters in Angel now not that I would want to get rid of any of them but I think like others have said that they could do more story lines on both Fred and Wes...in fact I would really love to know more about Wes..he is becoming on of my faves from Angel at the moment.
And I do really like Fred so I would liek to know more about her!!

Anyway the person I would like to see come over from Buffy would be Xander!!

I think he would be great...he could come over to see Cordy after all that had ha ppened in Buffy lately..(I won't go into it incase you guys are not up to date) but I think it might shake up Cordy and maybe some old feelings of hers and all that....plus I really like Xander!

:D

I put Xander in the poll, but I never really thought about what he would be like in Angel. You know what? That's a good idea!!!

Especially with all the recent happenings in Xander's life on Buffy - time for a change, I reckon. He would definitely be good for a bit, but permanently? I don't know - he would need to have some kind of change in his character to fit in on Angel - or at least be useful in some way.

yeah - ya know -- Xander doesn't really have much purpose on BTVS, so i'm not sure what, at all, he could do on Angel -

and i think he would clash more than fit - with all the happenings in season 3 (won't spoil it, i promise) -

'sides, he's still in love with Buffy - ya know - he has been since she moved to Sunnydale -- ;)

Xander never did like Angel anyway. Maybe him, Kate, Wes and Lindsay could team up as a rival outfit?

Four angry people out to kick butt - not so many touchy feely moments in that gang!

yeah - probably not -- throw in Spike - and they could have their own show!

what would they be called? Xander, Spike, Wes, Kate, Lindsey - what an odd team! especially since Wes and Xander aren't real fond of Spike, and i'm sure Wes isn't particularly fond of Lindsey, and i think once Kate found out Spike was a vamp, she'd more wanna stake him than anything else -- but - would make for a really interesting show, i think ------

oooh - the Rouge Demon Hunters!!! :D

Yeah I don't think he would be good there for ever but for a short while at least it would be good to see if he could shake things up for Cordy!!

I have sometimes wondered what Xander does bring to the group...as he is not really that useful but I like him all the same.
In some ways its nice that he does not have some 'super powers' like the rest of them!

You know, I think we are really on to something here!!!!

Lets start petitioning for it now!

Kate and Spike - that would be very interesting!

yeah - dunno why i thought of that - but it might be funny -

either they can have their own show, or they bumble around getting in Angel's way --

i think they'd be good in their own show -- almost more comedic than drama - but they could get some stuff done--

and - it would be one of those things were Xander, Spike, and Wes all scramble together - after their respective problems, etc. and then Lindsey shows and chats w/ Wes, then they find Kate --where did she, Kate the cop, go anyway? -- i know where the actress is - she's off mucking up Law and Order and ticking me off royally -- she's not very good on L&O (better than when she started on the show, but i liked her better as Kate) -- anyway - they find her and they need someone w/ an 'insider's' view of the 'cop' dealings -- and bang - they got themselves a gang!

however - where would they be based? guess they could take a different end of LA - Angel can't handle the whole thing -- it's a big city - and he's only one vampire ----

okay - how exactly did we get on this?? :)

Last I remember of Kate was a suicide attempt - but my memory is hazy. I think she either quit the force or got fired... can't really remember though. I got the distinct impression that she wasn't coming back, which is disappointing - there are few (actually closer to no) people who are in regular jobs and aren't really scoobys or anything that are involved in the fighting.

But the interaction of the group of people we have been mentioning could be pretty good. :)

well, Elizabeth Rohm is now Jack McCoy's assistant DA on L&O, so unless Dick Wolf drops her from that show - Kate won't be back on Angel, except for a rare guest spot (the shows film on opposite sides of the country)

i'd rather she go back to Angel - i don't really care much for her on L&O - but that's a whole other topic --

now - i still think our little 'off-shoot' idea would be kinda cool -

should we start another thread and plot it out?? :)

Good idea - my brain is a bit mashed from work this afternoon, but I'll think about it a bit later - feel free to go for it yourself in the meantime, I will join you later :)

Actually, it could be a good fic storyline too...
