Viacom has been cracking it's whip at convention stalls. Paramount enlisted the help of the Cleveland police to raid vendors of unlicensed Star Trek merchandise at the Vulkon convention in that city on April 27. Armed with search warrants, police confiscated unlicensed products that included photographs and props.
Trekweb reported that the items confiscated even included photos that guest actors at the event were giving away, along with their autographs. Viacom Consumer Products, the licensing arm of Paramount, has also begun licensing convention promoters as a means of getting unlicensed merchandise off the marketplace, the site reported.
