Harmony Kendall - Mercedes McNabb - well, she was one of Cordelia's 'friends' in high school -

They would chat about fashion and boys and how much school sucked, and all the other things the 'popular' girls talk about.

Don't remember her having an actual, on-screen boyfriend during seasons 1-3, but at graduation, she was apparently turned and come season 4 - she's hooked up with Spike and is (sort of) helping find the Ring of Amarra.

Okay, so a bit later, Spike's nabbed by the Initiative and gets that chip in his head, and he goes back to Harmony, who's pretty perturbed at him, and she kicks him out. Well, she does, later, let him come back and she even tries to help him get the chip out, but that doesn't work, and later she takes off and ends up in LA. (but that's a discussion for the Angel section)

So, thoughts, comments, etc on Harmony?

I thought it was really funny the way Harmony was such a sucky vampire. Every time she tried to be evil it just didn't work.

And over the whole Gem of Amarra thing how Spike never even tried to hide how annoyed by her he was? Loved that.

Oh and after Spike got chiped and tried to pretend he liked her? Couldn't stop laughing. What was it Harmony said? "I'm not good at thinking. Could you do that part?" Hehehehe.

what I don't understand, though, is, didn't someone say, one time, that the demon (vampire) takes over and the 'man' (or woman) that was there before is gone? The memories of the human life remain, but the person s/he was before doesn't have any control? Isn't that what they said? And I might have misheard, but if that's the case, was Harmony taken over by a ditzy demon? or are they as inconsistent on this point as they are on so many other things?

But that bit w/ Harmony trying to be evil - she's funny - tho, she did get herself invited into the Summer's house -

which leads to another pick - um - if Dawn knows Buffy is the slayer, then shouldn't she know that you have to invite vampires into the house? and didn't she know that Harmony was one? or did she not know Harmony was a vamp, and Xander, Anya, and Willow didn't say anything early enough?

anyway -- Harmony, tho annoying, had her moments -

"I tried. It was all hard and stuff... Can you help with the thinking?"

Harmony was just to blonde for the demon to take effect.

(don't hate me for the blonde joke only kidding)

but she did do okay in Angel she was a ditz but a little smarter to pull off the stunt of getting them to the bad guys all by herself.

Do we know much about Harmony from before she became a vampire? Aside from the fact that she was just as 'shallow' as Cordelia.

Loved it when Harmony took up smoking to be truly evil, and then was horrified when someone pointed out the no smoking sign! Same episode Spike started having erotic dreams about Buffy - can you blame him with Harmony as a girlfriend?!!

Harmony, annoying as she sort of was, was kind of funny. And she was actually a nice foil for Spike - she was trying to be evil when he couldn't be (after the chip, of course) -

The answer to both of those questions is YES.

For those of you that have the time and the interest, visit the thread, Can vampires love?. Page down the first page and you will find a compilation I did of demon references. I searched through Seasons 1 - 5 for the word "demon" and wrote a LONG post containing all the lore gathered from the series.

The short version is that they are all over the place as to relationship between the vampire-demon and his host. Although they do rule out that the human is directing the vampire.

but then vamps like Harmony show up - maybe she got a ditzy demon? (right, I said that already) -
