*** More blah, blah on how he's a busy man and shooting documentaries is hard work... There was some kind of lag that hid a question from my browser. RDA answered something with how good the franchise is and how great the show was to have so much criticism aimed at it. Sounded like he was off on a good ole-fashioned rant, but he calmed down somewhat...***
RDA: That's unique in the business.
RDA: We also have an ensemble cast that as individuals that are interesting and unique and extremely talented.
RDA: And a bevy of writers who are tireless in their efforts to be creative.
Kgw2002: How do you get through those long days? I heard that they are like 16 hours long!
RDA: The can drag on, but its part of the job!
RDA: You grow to expect that.
RDA: They are made less grueling, through the efforts of everyone, but in particular John Smith, one of our producers who orchestrates the scheduling and makes it as easy as possible.
RDA: But its the job.
Tessamac: Hi Rick! AtGatecon last year, Amanda described the way you smelled- in 22 words or less. Could you do that for her too, please?
RDA: She described how I smell????
RDA: (To Amanda) You described how I smell???
RDA: Come over here, Amanda, let me smell you- I'm smelling Amanda now!
RDA: Mmm...she smells like hairspray.
RDA: She smells the very essence of life itself. It means she should shower. Soon.
RDA: She's smelling me now...
RDA: I'd put her on the phone, but her nose is between my toes. Come on get up!
Johnson-sg3: Hey Rick, is Amanda watching what you're typing, just to see what you say about her?
RDA: Amanda is sitting right next to me, we're on the floor of the motor home, lounging with cocktails and small poodles.
RDA: And one large poodle.
RDA: We have geishas, cabana boys, and for Amanda we have... well, there's a lot of traffic in there, but we're oblivious to the outside world.
Gatetraveler: This question is for RDA and : Hi, I've been a Stargate fan since the begginning and there has been many changes to your character during the past 5 years. I was wondering what kind of character changes can we expect to see in season 6?
RDA: Not much. [laughs]
RDA: Not really, natural evolution of the creative process.
RDA: That's actually a Brad Wright question anyway, he's in charge of us all.
Cleo2205: Rick we know you are crazy about dogs.... what's your opinion of cats?
RDA: I love dogs.
RDA: I'm not saying that I don't like cats... but I'm more dog than anything else, more dog than human, and my cat-like qualities never really developed along with other parts of my body, and personality.
RDA: I'm not saying I don't like cats... I'm jus saying, I prefer snakes.
RDA: Snake dogs.
EM: can you tell us what your favorite episode of Season 6 has been so far and why?
RDA: Oh... possibly Abyss, Mike Shanks came back and I was trapped in a jail cell with him.
RDA: It was good to see and work with him, we battled it out on screen, it was great.
Stargatetraveler: Hiya Rick! Love your character and all the hard work you put into things, just one quick question, do all of the cast share good friendships as they do on the show?
***RDA's reply is something to the effect that he's reclusive and leaves for home in California on weekends and the rest party without him, much to his dismay and bruised ego.***
***Amanda came back to chat some more about forty minutes into the chat. RDA and AT are a riot together and I wonder if RDA can be coaxed to Gatecon by sharing stage time with con veteran AT. It worked for TR... ***
*** Amanda's question was about whether she'd ever ad-libbed on the show.***
AT: Besides our usual fooling around and mentioning McGuyver that made it into the pilot, that was an ad-lib that made it to the screen.
AT: We've learned from our master, Maharishi Rick.
AT: Out of the blue one, Rick said a line that had been previously written. Shocked us all!
Erishian42: Amanda, you're back. Would you ever like to play Michael Shanks's love interest in another movie or tv show
AT: Hell yeah, he's cute!
Johnson-sg3: Amanda, have you ever been tempted to do an episode where Carter has an Essex accent?!
AT: Yes, I do Essex accents all the time, on set.
AT: Unfortunately it never makes it on screen - but I think it behooves the producers to let me do the Essex, let me wear white stilettos at least once.
AT: Rick gets to wear the white stilettos all the time!
AT: I want to reinterate how great it is like Rick said that all these people waited so long to talk to us.
AT: I have Rick right here, any questions you want to ask me about the Richard Dan Anderson/
EM: The Following is a question from the Stargate SG-1 Club: hw_chaos asks... What storylines to you hope to see wrapped in this season since it is your last and where do you imagine Colonel O'Neill and Major Carter to be 5 years down the line from now?
AT: I would like to see what happens with the tokra.
AT: There's actually quite a few gangland threats that we need some closure too, too many to get into right now.
AT: What ever happened to Joe, Sam's first husband, when we went back to 2001 and we left him on this Harvester.
AT: But now Rick and I are discussing where Jack and Sam will be in 5 years... we think we'll open a deli right outside area one.
AT: (to Rick) Weekends at your cabin fishing?
AT: He doesn't want to fish anymore- he might catch a fish one day, that would scare him
AT: We'll both retire, and I'll finally be able to call him Jack!
Flashpoint68: Is Rick as great a kisser as he seems he would be??
AT: Rick is a phenominal kisser- wait, let me double check that, I'm going to kiss him right now.
AT: That was a short one but he is in fact, as phenominal a kisser as one might imagine.
AT: That was a great question, because I got to kiss Rick- any more like that and I'm all over- Rick fainted, though. [laughs]
AT: Thank you thank you thank you, this is so great!
ET: Thanks SO much for taking the time to chat with us tonight, Amanda!
AT: I have to say, I said it before, but I'm touched and overwhelmed by how much support we get from the fans, and please don't think it goes unnoticed.
EM: Rick, thanks so much to you too! This has been a great deal of fun!
RDA: Complete echo of our most articulate of cast members.
RDA: I'm still awed by the presence of my website, let alone the flourishing nature of them.
RDA: I live a fairly reclusive life, you'd think I'd be more in touch with them, I'll have to make a point to get in touch.
RDA: In some ways I'm awed, and confused to some degree, but in some ways it feels good to have proof that people watch and support the show.
***Some sort of lag here. All the good-byes start with no prompting that I can see...***
