heard this somewhere round the net and thought it was worthy of speculation.
what if anubis is a goauld/human/replicator hybrid that was created when apophis' replicator infested ship crashed?

Wow! That is some mix, and sound pretty undestructible. Specially with the replicator/goauld mix.

Krystal

I personally think it's quite doubtful because Anubis is apparently a Goa'uld who was supposed killed by the System Lords a thousand years before, but apparently survived and left the galaxy instead. Apophis was such an arrogant creature, I doubt he would take on the name of another. He would want everyone to know it was him anyway.

I hope to god it isn't him. I would ALL respect for the show if it was. I know everyone loved Pops, but I personally thought he was pathetic and not the best System Lord at all.

I am almost dreading seeing who and what Anubis is. I have absolutely no faith in the writers and producers of this show at all. To me....he just looks like Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars.

Of course....he could be Sokar returned. After all we didn't see his body either did we?

yeah, pops was rather fey wasn't he? he does seem quite popular with the masses, however, so who knows?
re palpatine/anubis - i thought that as well. hopefully we won't have jack's long lost father showing up as some kind of darth vader figure - "jack, it is your destiny..." ;)

That didn't stop Apophis taking Neonak's name in the episode where SG1 went to Hell. Literally.

No way in hell is Anubis someone new. Why completly shoud the face of someone if we've never seen them before?

I was talking this over with someone yesterday, and I came to the following conclusions:

Apofis = Not Anubis. He was on a ship infested with replicators when it crashed on a planet and exploded. He was forced to remain in one stationary spot due to the abundance of replicators. He was traped on the bridge, away from any gliders or transport rings. He had nothing to protect himself but his personal forcefield. He could not have survived...hell, his body can't even be in one piece now.

Socar = Not Anubis. He was stranded on a moon(?) when it exploded.

Hathor = Not Anubis. Dispite her atempts to raise genetically superior soldiers on Cassy's planet, Hathor has always been one to use minimal deception in favor of direct atempts to controll. WHile she has tried to decieve before, it is not in her character to do anything really long term.

any of the System Lords = Not Anubis. Not only are they too petty and vain, they've also always been far too busy with power struggles between themselves.

...so who do I think is a possible candidate for Anubis?

Tanith.

The problem with Tanith is that he was on a planet in a system that was distroyed when SG-1 blew up that system's sun...however recall that Tanith had a small ship cloaked on theplanet for an emergency getaway if needed, and that even once it was distroyed he was last seen running off into the desert...he could have very well had another small ship hidden, and made a hyperspace jump before the sun blew.

OK; here's my rebuttal.

Sokar was on a ship orbitting the moon that exploded. He COULD have escaped. There was a ring transporter activated milliseconds before the ship exploded. Perhaps it was Apophis escaping that time, or maybe Apophis's escape was not shown "on camera", and the ring transporter matter stream that the audience saw, was not in fact Apophis escaping, but instead, it could have been Sokar.
Besides, he's a GOD, and GODS CANNOT BE KILLED!!!!! :D :D :D ;)

I thought it was the one who had dissapearing technology that was doing all that weird "hok'tar" (superhuman) stuff on Cassy's planet. I can't remember the Gou'ald's name, but I think it was Niritee or something...

I totally agree.

I don't know if you've seen all of Season 5, so I won't spoil it for you. If you have seen Season 5, remember the episode "48 Hours", where
Teal'c got caught in the Stargate's buffers when he failed to materialise on the SGC's side? Remeber who was piloting the ship that crashed into the Stargate on the other side??

That's my 2 cents.

Of course....he could be Sokar returned. After all we didn't see his body either did we?

This is supported by the fact that the same actor-David Palffy(?)-plays/played both of them. Maybe TPTB are finally aiming for some continuity by not hiring another actor. It'd make a nice change...

Maybe Anubis was just chillin' (for a thousand years or how ever long it was) hangin out in some pathetic life form until Socars host became available. A case of Host envy? You're looks better than mine?

perhaps anubis is an eunas or however you spell their species name, hell he could even be an asguard that would explain how he was able to capture thor, however im not sure thats possible, an asguard host?
