Little things in AOTC that made me smile

There were quite a few little things in this movie that I felt were nicely in keeping with the rest of the series. While I might have been confused by the plot  I did catch some of the little continuities.

The revelation of the Jedi 'bloodline' (okay it's not really a bloodline, but you catch my drift). Finding out that Yoda trained Dooku, Dooku in turn trained Qui Gon, and so on.

I also got quite a kick out of the armour that the clones wore - it did make me wonder whether that meant that many of the Stormtroopers we later see are Jango Fett under the helmets, or whether they are simply human recruits wearing similar armour.

Meeting Anakin's half-brother, Owen, uncle-to-be of little baby Luke :) and of course re-visitng the house (from Ep IV) they live in on Tatooine.

Seeing those creepy little aliens with the flashlights for eyes - can't rememeber what they are called though.

Being introduced to the "Ultimate Weapon" - it is fitting that this should be shown here, as it is such as large part of Episodes IV & VI.

You people got anything to add?

I also really liked the Jango/Boba Fett storyline, even though I don't really understand how Boba became such a cult character after such small appearances in the original trilogy.

I felt really sorry for Boba when his father died :( Even though I knew what a git he would turn into.
Makes me wonder if the symmetry between Boba and Anakin was purposely there.

one thing that i love about movies with sequels, or more, is when they connect them well. like in scream, you can find tons of connections btw the three movies. with star wars i was really looking forward to seeing how lucas would connect 5, and later 6 movies. i think he did an amazing job! i love all the little connections that happen. like when they go to visit "uncle" owen. they drink this stuff that looks like blue milk:D :D :D that made me smile b/c i always remembered that in ep. 4 when luke is sitting at the table with his aunt and uncle they drink blue milk! there's just tons of little stuff like that throughout the movie!:rolly2:

I missed the Blue milk, but yes, that's a good one too. I did notice that the entire tatooine home set was very familiar. I always remember being amazed that they had tupperware a long time ago in a galaxy far far away ;)

hehehe:rolly2:

ok, here's another thing i noticed. first of all i thought it was a little creepy when boba went and picked up his father's decapitated head. but because of that incident, he later follows in his father's footsteps. it also made me think of when luke went into that cave and cut off vader's head and saw it was his, because it was his danger to follow in his father's footsteps. maybe i'm stretching here, but that's the way my mind works.

I liked seeing Luke's garage again. I thought that was cool. I also saw a speeder in the background that looks a little like Luke's. but I can't really tell. Anyone else see that?

Yeah, someone found the ORIGINAL homes Lucas used in ANH which allowed him to use them again for AOTC, so that "homestead" sequence SHOULD feel familiar... it's the same place.

Not a stretch at all! Great observation! My friends will even have to agree with that one... and they usually defer to MY opinion in all matters Star Wars. ;)

Did I mention that I'm the "Star Wars Queen" at work?

I love it when others see parallels I missed. Thanks TokyoGirl!

That wouldn't have been so hard. I saw a TV "Holiday" programme a few years ago, and Tour Companies in Tunisia have been running guided tours to this place for years.

no problem. i always notice things like that, things that would just be jumping out at you if it were a book, but not so much with a movie.

i also like the little things like when r2d2 goes and gets the food for pad-me and he's told that he's not allowed to, and then in the other one he ends up as jaba's drink tray:p

also, after watching epII i went back and watched the original ones (of course) and things make so much more sense now. like before i never really understood why yoda got so upset when luke left his training to go help his friends. and then watching what happened when anakin left his responsibilities to help people out it makes a whole lot more sense.

For how many years? The guy who did this went on his own, back before Lucas even announced that he was going to do the prequels, and had to search for everything himself. It's possible that there are guided tours there NOW because of him, but he had to do it all on his own.

I can find the SW Insider article about him, if you want.

And ToykyGirl: Another great parallel! You keep 'em coming! :D

It was a couple of years ago, certainly after Ep. I, but they gave the impression that the tourists had been visiting for some time. You don't need to find the article, I believe you. Those TV shows are really just advertising for these companies anyway, so they probably deliberately exaggerate the truth.

The dude that went did so back around '95, maybe. I'd have to look up the article to remember for sure. I remember Lucasfilm being all impressed that he'd found not only locations, but props that had been left behind and untouched for years.

I also remember a special on TV for TPM in which someone mentioned "finding" the original Lars homestead, but since they didn't use it in that film, it was kind of forgotten.

Hey, someone in Tunisia has to make a living. Tourism is a growth industry... just look at all the ads in AOTC! :naughty:

That was another thing that made me smile about this movie...

the ads! :flash: Couruscant was teaming with "big city" ads and neon signs. It was so well-suited for that city-planet. They did an awesome job defining Couruscant better than in TPM.

i know, i liked that too. it added a great opposite to the other cities you saw. it showed how much more advanced and populated they were.
