De Bont To Helm Raider 2?

Angelina Jolie will reprise the role of Lara Croft in the upcoming sequel to Tomb Raider, and Paramount is eyeing Speed director Jan De Bont to helm, Variety reported. Negotiations have begun with an eye toward getting Tomb Raider 2 in production by early fall, the trade paper reported.

Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin will produce the sequel, based on a script by Dean Georgaris.

SO, yep, TR2 is on the way... but wait a minute, there is also the following story....

Jolie Replaced In Raider 2?

The Tomb Raider Chronicles Web site reported an unsubstantiated rumor that Angelina Jolie is being replaced as Lara Croft in the upcoming sequel to the hit film Lara Croft Tomb Raider. Though Jolie has said publicly that she's eager to take on the role again, the site reported that British TV anchor Kelly Brook will step into Jolie's army boots for the sequel, which reportedly begins shooting in May. The site speculated that Jolie will be occupied with the adoption of a Cambodian baby.

The Empire Online Web site, meanwhile, reported that Brook will appear in an upcoming SF movie, Absolon, alongside Lou Diamond Phillips and Christopher Lambert. The David Barto film tells the story of a deadly illness that threatens mankind.

No thanks...I've heard enough. Well, I guess I can understand why Jolie can't do it now, but why can't the producers wait for her? It won't work without her. It will just seem like a copy cat movie. I hope either she changes her mind or they can wait for her!

Film goddess Angelina Jolie will be able to heal her broken heart with a visit to one of Greece's most beautiful islands. The Hackers stunner, mourning the breakdown of her marriage to Billy Bob Thornton, is currently filming the sequel to her blockbusting action adventure flick Tomb Raider. And according to local press reports, the franchise will continue in its tradition of exotic locations - part of the first film was made in Cambodia's Angkor Wat temple - by heading for the volcanic island of Santorini later this month. Filming is reportedly scheduled to take place from August 26 to 31 in the northern town of Ia, and producers are said to be looking for about 100 extras to take part in filming on the island. Tomb Raider II, tentatively titled The Cradle Of Life, will also shoot on location in China and Africa by Speed director Jan De Bont.

No news on the co-stars as of yet, although I did hear rumblings somewhere (maybe a red dwarf site) that Chris Barrie, Ms Croft's faithful shotgun-toting butler is to return with a larger part. Hope so, I liked both her wee sidekicks

tomb raider revelations was a good game,the movie might reflect the merecat,a train sequence,dancing on the brim of a dig in an Egyptian town........
The actress playing her should be more tenacious,with a faster wit concerning constition personally,say...Maddona or Lita Keating,or an African american women

I don't know who Lita Keating is, but I definitely think Madonna would be a terrible Lara Croft. I couldn't imagine her filling the role. I think Angelina Jolie fits the role pretty well, she certainly looks and sounds the part!

Djimon Hounsou (Gladiator) has been set to star opposite Angelina Jolie in Tomb Raider 2 at Paramount, playing a Masai warrior who helps Lara Croft on another daring mission, Variety reported.

www.imdb.com is now also listing Chris Barrie as being on board too - yay!
