Stargate Love-ins
Hello from a fan from Vancouver, BC.
As far as I know, Stargate conventions have been held in Vancouver (
www.gatecon.com/), Sydney (BOBW; what is the URL, fellow fans of this board??) and London (
www.wolfevents.co.uk/). The major stars (AT, MS, JRB, PW, DSD, CJ, Tom McBeath, etc) have shown up at these conventions as groups or they have shown up individually at various sci-fi cons in various States of the USA (e.g. San Diego Comic Con, Star Trek-related, Babylon 5-related and others.)
You have to browse around Stargate fan sites (like this one!
) to find out where and when the Stargate stars will show up or you can organize your own. But I think it is a lot of hard work to star your own Stargate con. And you would have to pay the actors to come to your con, of course!
I've been to Gatecon (I live in Vancouver
) and Wolf SG4 (in London this past February; I was on my way through London to Eastern Europe and used Wolf SG4 as an excuse to touch down at Heathrow for a few days!!). And I loved them both. If you live in Canada, why don't you come out West for Gatecon this September??
You can organize your own mini-cons; actually they are more accurately described as "love-ins" (a Stargate SG-1 Love-in!! Yaaaayyyy!). I do. About once every month or two, I have friends over for snacks (sushi anybody?) and Stargate videos! Be creative!
