Cole doesn't die, although i'm a little confused on what happened. It did seem like he had. But i think the Source keept him alive to try and rid him of his humanity.

BTW: Julian (the actor who plays Cole) has signed on to do at least series 4 and 5, so we don't have to wprry about losing him just yet.

But briefly

Piper and Prue get attacked by Shax, the Source's personal assistant. Pheobe gets the Source to turn back time on the condition that she would stay in the underworld. But being Evil, he dosn't stick to his side of the deal and Prue ends up dead.

She is then replaced by Paige, their half sister. Her biological father was Sam, the Whitelighter their mother was having an affair with.
