1.2: Dark Knight: The Second Chapter (II)

Nick faces off against Lacroix, while Dr. Hunter follows him. Lacroix taunts Nick with blood then offers Nick to save either the Mayan cup or Hunter: Nick chooses Hunter, saving her when the cup is destroyed. He impales Lacroix on a metal rack and leaves. Hiding in his trunk, he goes along with Schanke goes to the hospital investigating the homeless murders. They realize that a doctor, Fenner, at the hospital is killing the homeless. Fenner is at Nick's apartment, where Hunter and one of the homeless girls has taken refuge. Nick arrives but Lacroix attacks, killing Fenner. Hunter offers her life to Nick to give him enough power to defeat Lacroix, but he turns her down, and Lacroix kills her before Nick seemingly kills him.

Okay - watched this one too --

still confused - but that might have something to do w/ watching this in 'parts' - ie: watch 1/2, stop for whatever reason, watch rest --

but - Dr. Hunter - Alyce - does she appear in any later episodes?

if not - that is one dangling plot thread they left there ----

Why does Nick not want to be a vampire anymore?
What prompted his decision to 'change sides'?
What happened between him and LaCroix?

Background stuff --- I don't like being in the dark - and if these questions get answered later in the series, just tell me to be patient and wait for the eps w/ the answers -----

Fear now, those questions will get answered later in the series in a number of eps, and most of them are in the first season.

Dr. Hunter - Alyce - does she appear in any later episodes?

No, Alyce never reappears in the show. I heard somewhere, probably the FK mailing list, that the character was supposed to but the actress didn't work out in the end or something.

In the 1st season episode Only the Lonely, there is the flashback of Nick & Natalie meeting for the first time. IIRC, there are references to it before the ep but that's the first ep where the actual flashback is shown.

A number of other eps show the relationship with Nick & LaCroix and why Nick doesn't want to be a vampire.

Be My Valentine is a second season ep, which does show exactly what happened between Nick & LC and sheds a great deal of light on Nick & Nat's relationship as well. It's one of my favorite eps.
