What are the good comics these days?

Not read any new comics or graphic novels since my indulgence in the 1990's.

So...what's around these days - who's writing, and who's writing what? What's any good, who's behind it, what is it, and...why?
 
Well, this is a bit different from the grounded-in-superhero-comics, but conceptually more challenging fare I think we both enjoy, but one real masterpiece of the comics medium I have seen in recent times is Chris Ware's Jimmy Corrigan: The Smartest Kid On Earth. It's an almost oppressively bleak look at the commonplace estrangements that make up much of modern life. There is a leavening of black humour however, and the outstanding art is a delight in itself.
