Brent Stait (Rev Bem) was recently scheduled to return to the Andromeda set to film an episode for the show's upcoming third season.
No details are as yet known about the episode, which will be the first featuring Rev Bem since the second season. The news of his re-appearance was revealed by SlipstreamNews reader Dylanite was recently able to visit the Andromeda set, and sent back several interesting observations about the new season.
Stait was one of the original members of the Andromeda cast, playing the Wayist Rev Bem until mid way through the second season. The heavy makeup required to transform the actor into the Magog caused him painful skin problems, which forced him to leave the show after 'Ouroboros' (story).
One of the first changes viewers will notice about the show's third season is its new opening titles. The music will reportedly remain the same as in season two, but with new visuals. The voice-over at the beginning will be provided by Dylan Hunt.
Two characters will also get a make-over. Trance and Rommie both went through rather dramatic changes in season two, and this year will see the process continue. Rommie is set to swap her blue hair for red hair extensions, and the reason for the changes will be explored in a future storyline. Trance will gain a brand new costume that will include the loss of her horns.
The build-up to season three continues with the release of a new episode title - 'The Shards of Rimni'.
The episode was the fourth to be filmed during work on the third season, but the actual order in which it may hit the screen is unknown. It was written by new head writer Robert Engels, with familiar Andromeda scribes Matt Kiene & Joe Reinkemeyer.
No other concrete information is known about the episode. But Lexa Doig (Andromeda) dropped a hint in a recent interview that likely applies to 'The Shards of Rimni.' "There's a fun romp where Dylan and Harper go off on a little adventure," she said. "It was a lot of fun to watch, and they looked suspiciously like Herc and Iolaus.
