With the new substance of Naquedarinahaha (whatever) that was found on Jonas Quinn's world, the writers have made Sam very, VERY interested in getting this substance, no matter what (well, almost).

Do y'all see this as a change in writing for Sam's character? Making her tougher? Giving her character and O'Neill's a difference of opinion? Giving her and Quinn something to discuss/agree on?

What do y'all think?

well, you could be right.

Did Sam took more charge this season? She seemed to take over as spokesman for the team in Shadow Play.

Agreed. I've noticed in a few epys Sam took TPTB position with Hammond.

Another interesting point: with Daniel not there, and Jonas Quinn not yet ready to take a lead role in giving his opinions (particularly with his background of stealing, even if it was for the SGC), no one is in the position right now of being the team's "conscionce," for lack of a better term. The SGC is now twice the benficiary of stolen goods that will (allegedly) help our planet, or it could (if not used wisely, i.e. Senator Kinsey and the NID) end up blowing our little piece of the Universe to hell.

What do y'all think?(again).

Another thought about that. The appearance seems to be (exclusive of "The Abyss" - a different scenario) that O'Neill gets a "feeling" (dare I use that word in the same sentence with O'Neill) when Daniel is around that the others do not (yet) seem to recognize. He hasn't shared this with anyone (that we can tell), and since epy no. 1, gives the appearance of being a little cold-hearted/back to business as usual about losing Daniel (although I don't think that's the case). Clearly in the season opener, Sam didn't like it.

I do agree Sam seems to have taken on a stronger role. I don't know if this is simply an overall change written for her character, or whether it is being written in slowly but surely. Possibility: it could be that O'Neill has a certain security knowing Daniel is around, but the others, including Sam, don't know it yet. Sam, taking a stonger approach, has decided to step up to the plate and take a tougher stance at the office making her opinions more clear (so to speak).

Just another thought.

I think sam has certainly grown in confidence since the first season. And i do think also that she's pretty much stepping in as...third in command of the sgc. (maybe not in rank, but certainly onthe show)

and it may also be representative of the changes in season 6. AT now has second billing...and while it IS an ensemble show, with RDA taking a bit of time off here and there, someone has to step in and pick up the baton. And i think it's AT.
