Virginia Hey answers questions at her official web site:
How is the make-up applied, and how long does it take?
The make up takes 3 hours for two artists working simultaneously to apply, and one hour to remove. My latex ear extensions are stuck on first, then comes the first layer of blue. The first coating is a latex plastic that is dabbed on with a sponge, it is waterproof so the skin cannot sweat. The next 2 layers are sprayed on with an airbrush, adding shading, and then highlighting, then comes 4 layers of airbrush work through pieces of material which act as stencils. The markings on my chest, neck, and head with one stencil, the markings on my nose with another, then the final markings on my cheek bones, jawbone, around my ears and spine with a very fine stencil, and lastly, my favourite, the blase on my forehead with yet another stencil! Finally the eyes and lips are hand painted on... The designer of this make up deserves an award!
To remove it I am rubbed with solvent then coated with layers of hot towels, the plastic pulls off gradually. I then shower to remove the solvent which stings if left on the skin too long.
