To Kill a Mocking Bird

I don't know the author thats why I started a thread here.

Who is the author? Cos I gotta read it for Englash when we get back to school and I wanned to know what it's about, and whether I'm going to be so bored my eyes fall out or absolutely addicted to it.
Oh and there was a film made of it too wasn't there?
:flash:

The author is Harper Lee.

From Amazon
Synopsis
The Pulitzer Prize-winning story of the violent, intolerant, eccentric, humorous and prejudiced Deep South, seen through the eyes of children in the 1930s. Scout and Jem Finch lose their innocence when their lawyer father defends a Negro charged with the rape of a white girl.
From the Back Cover
A coming-of-age story set in the South, this novel is rich with subjects for conversation. Narrated by Scout, a young girl on the brink of a life-changing event, To Kill a Mockingbird was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1960.

Never read the book but did see the original film in 1962 starred Gregory Peck, so the result from outside is obvious.
Second attempt in 1997.
Also available in play form

I read it for school too. It's a pretty good book, it didn't bore me at all but it definetly didn't addict me. Its more the feel of the book after you read it that makes it stand out for me.

Yeah - I also had to read it for school -- TWICE! (don't move btwn 8th and 9th grade!) -- and it is an enjoyable book.

Biggest problem is that the English teachers make you read far too much into it --- if you could just read it as a story, it's probably much more enjoyable, but finding the little 'tidbits' are nice too ---

The other thing - it depends on the teacher - b/c most of the English teachers I had made everything we read so boring and laborious -- but one teacher - everything was fun - even stuff I thought I'd hate --- so, teachers play a big part in the enjoyment of a book ---

"TKaM" is a wonderful read though!

Read it high school and rather like it . Like the film with Gregory Peck

I have no desire to to read Go Set a Watchman.
