Has anyone been to the Sheraton?

The one that has the Star Trek stuff in the hotel in Las Vegas? I would be interested in your opinion and any helpful comments on where I can get more info to plan a trip there. Thanks in advance!:alienooh: :alienooh:

Its the 'Hilton' Is it not....

I went just after it opened and it was fantastic...

I went and stayed in a cheaper hotel and travelled to see it... You can get a day pass... its well worth it..

Thanks Dave, I'll try that site. Thanks Neo, I knew it was one of those fancy hotels, can you give me any more details on what you saw, did you love it? I was planning on going just for a weekend, leaving Friday night and returning on Sunday afternoon, would that be enough time to see everything?

I've found some info on it:

The venue houses an exhibition, bars, restaurants and shops in the style of the DS9 promenade and Quark's bar, and a half-hour interactive ride. During the ride, you are beamed aboard the USS Enterprise NCC 1707-D, take a shuttle ride, stand on the bridge and take orders from Cmmd. Will Riker and engage in a realistic battle with Klingons in a fast and furious motion-simulator ride.

After seeing the Back to the Future ride at Universal City Hollywood, and the Disneyworld Star Tours rides they threw out all their original ideas in order to have a coherent believable story, so that the space battle actually takes place over the Las Vegas Hilton.

Thanks Dave, that sounds Awesome and in answer to your first question, yes, could you change it to read "Hilton" instead of Sheraton, it would be greatly appreciated.:rolly2: :D :rolly2:

NO if u are gonna go u need to go for at least 5 days to make it worth while....

The star trek experience is great... but there is also sooooooo much more to see in las vegas..

For the price it is cheaper to go for 5/7 days than 3 ??

That's what it seems like, but its hard to believe with all these scifi afficionados that only one person has actually gone to the Star Trek Experience, doesn't it?:(

It is a way to go... i have to say i went for the hell of it as well as the trek experience...

I mean i play cards alot as well.. so was fun

If I ever can afford to visit the USA I would like to see the Grand Canyon, among other things, and some friends that did that got a package with Las Vegas too, as it is the nearest big airport. The Star Trek Experience wasn't there yet then, though.

The majority of package deasl include the grand canyon... wow what a place.. well worth it if u can get there

I wasn't aware that the package deals included the Grand Canyon, that would be very interesting! I'm not much of a gambler but I would love to see how and what they have done to the Enterprise and the DS9 Promenade and restaurants. . .Being in the US I think I have a better chance of getting a better deal than those coming from Europe, I would imagine it would be quite an expensive trip for you. I'll let you know if I get to go. Thanks for the info!:D

Star Trek: The Experience (Las Vegas Ride)

Anyone been to Vegas? Anyone tried out this ride?

It sounds similar to the underwhelming Star Wars ride at Eurodisney, but, since I am heading to Vegas at the end of August, I thought I would check it out, and trawl for ascif experiences, if there are any.

Here is a description from www.travelocity.co.uk :
Star Trek: The Experience

It goes without saying that hardcore Trekkers (note use of correct term) will be delighted. On the other hand, normal, sensible fans, and those who couldn't care less about Star Trek, may find themselves saying, "I spent $25 and 2 hours in line for this?"

The latest Vegas attractions fad is the motion-simulator ride, and this is a fancy entry in that category. You can't fault the setup and interior design; after a walk through a space-themed casino (check out those light-beam-activated slot machines!), your long wait in line will be somewhat entertaining, thanks to memorabilia (displayed as if this were the stuff of fact, not fiction) and TVs showing various Trek clips. As you make your way to the ride proper, you encounter actors dressed in Trek-gear, who let you know that you've crossed the line into the Trek future.

There is a story line, but we won't spoil it for you. Suffice to say it involves time travel and evil doings by the Borg, and if all doesn't work out, the very history of Star Trek could be affected. Do expect to be beamed aboard the Enterprise (that's really kind of cool), and know that if you have a sensitive stomach, you can skip the actual motion-simulator part, a wild and sometimes headache-inducing chase through space. In addition to the often-lengthy wait (on average, 20 min.; best shot at a slight lull would be noon-1pm on weekdays), the quality of your experience can vary depending on the quality of those Trek-garbed actors, whose line delivery can be awfully stilted. On the way out, through the shops selling everything Trek- and space-related, don't miss the TV showing a "news report" about some of the very things you just experienced. Note: At press time, rumors persisted that this attraction would be either closed or moved, so check when you get to town.

ps - mods, feel free to move this to merchandise, if that would be a better home.

Actually, I merged it with the existing thread (the thread title wasn't very clear, so I've used yours.)

Still looks like Neo is the only person to have been, hope the other posts give you the information you want.

PS. I've been on the EuroDisney 'Star Tours' ride and this sounds infinitely better than than. There are far more interactive things.

Thanks for merging the threads Dave, I was sure there would be a thread for it in here somewhere, I just didn't see it on a casual inspection.

The friend I am going with is quite a Voyager fan, so I am sure I will be able to persuade her to come with me. We are definitely taking in the Grand Canyon too - and Hoover Dam as well (I just watched Beavis and Butthead Do America, so we just have to go there).

Been there done that! It was quite a lot of fun too.

You pay for your ticket - quite pricey too, I think it was something like $20 US, and then you amble through the History of the Future exhibit. It is a timeline that I think starts in the 1990s and goes right until Insurrection or so. It covers things like the various crewmembers' birthdays and dates of graduation from the academy, particular scientific advances and first contacts with species. There is also quite a large exhibit of items - we asked someone how much of the items were actually from the shows and were impressed to find that everything but one borg outfit and one Klingon knife were direct from the various shows and movies! Apparently they couldn't have the actual knife because Paramount still needed it or filming! The Borg was mechanized so its head turned and its eyepiece did stuff too - it had to be made specially and therefore wasn't an original item.

Then some guy in a jumpsuit makes you stand on a little ramp and takes a photo (yep - one of those things that you pay an extra $20 for at the end) and then you walk down a trivia filled corridor, with Klingon, Vulcan and Borg exhibits, finally reaching the queue for the actual "Star Trek Experience".

I have to say I really enjoyed it. I think I'll put it in a spoiler space as you might want to try it out for yourself and not know for sure what is going to happen
You are herded into a little room, and they make you watch one of those safety videos. The video starts to fuzz out and the guides become a llittle panicked. Then you have the 'beaming effect' that other people have mentioned - I can't really describe it, it is just cool. The next thing you know, you are standing on the Enterprise D's transporter pad and the guides are totally freaking out "what's going on? I was just about to take my break!?".

It transpires that the Enterprise is under attack and this attack is connected to your presences in the future. You hear Riker over the comm, the guides are bundled off and someone from security picks you up and tells you things like, "Don't worry, everything will be explained shortly", you are then led through strangely narrow corridors, passing the odd crew member on the way, and everyone goes into a turbolift.

After a few minor blips we stop and disembark on the bridge! Totally weird standing there, 'cause it looks exactly like the tv show, just without the familar faces on the Bridge. There are a few transmissions on the viewscreen between Riker and the Klingons, and it turns out that they are trying to wipe out Picard's bloodline. Cheesy I know, but it is suggested that one of us is his ancestor!

Evenutally we get sent to a runabout, which is one of those motion simulators. We get into a big battle with the Kingon's and there are some really cool images on the viewscreen. Eventually we get back to the wormholey-thing and get back to Earth, but OH NO! The Kingon's have followed us back!!!! We duck and dive and eventually we are approaching Vegas, it looks like we are gonna buy the farm when the Klingon Ship explodes and we see the Enterprise behind it! Wooohoo!

Then they say, "We will now return you to the approximate position you were in when the Klingon's abducted you", the shuttlepod's doors open and a mechanic guy is acting all confused - "Oi, where did you lot come from???". He was a cockney too, in quite a strange way!

After all that excitement we had some food and drinks at Quark's Bar. We had some Holy Rings of Betazed to start (onion rings), I can't remember the crazy name of our main courses, but my friend had the coolest cocktail called a Warp Core Breach, and I had and Antarean something or other :D
And we got our photos's taken with some Ferengi, who were pretty convincingly in character! I will post them sometime if I get them scanned.

Anyway, it was lots of fun, check it out if you are ever in Vegas!

Vegas Adds Enterprise Items

SCIFI WIRE - The History of the Future Museum at the Star Trek: The Experience theme attraction at the Las Vegas Hilton hotel has been updated to include items relating to UPN's newest series, Enterprise, the official Web site reported. The museum features props, costumes, pictures and memorabilia from all incarnations of Star Trek.

Visitors can now view Capt. Archer's (Scott Bakula) uniform, an early version of a phase pistol/phase rifle from the pilot episode "Broken Bow," a small version of an Enterprise work station and manual, an Enterprise-era Klingon hand disruptor, Suliban and Andorian heads and a Suliban hand weapon. There are also exact replicas of the four Enterprise ship drawings from Archer's ready room.

In addition to items from Enterprise, the museum is adding exhibit items from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager and the feature film Star Trek: Insurrection.
