During a hostage situation at the police station, Nick recalls his life in East Berlin (as the American Nick Thomas), where he helped another family in crisis while they helped him search for the Abarat, an ancient book of miracles that may contain a cure for vampirism.

written by: Brad Wright (whom Stargate fans will recognize)

Oh I saw this one the other day...it was interresting.

But really how many differn't times can Nick come just this close to finding a cure then have it ripped away before it loses the drama?

I mean like I've seen it happen so many times that I'm like "Oh look Nice has yet another thing that might make him human. He's so gonna get screwed some how." I just can't get excited for him when I know it's never going to work....

Ya know - I was thinking the same thing --

How many times?

I, actually, think it's more of 'the writers couldn't come up w/ anything else'

Tho, I did like the Abarat story -- that was interesting -- and it would be nice if this book was mentioned again - but, I have a feeling that it gets tucked into the darkness, like all those little bits of backstory and canon that were ignored on Highlander ---

But - I did like this episode - so, hat's off to Brad Wright (who I think likes to use years as episode titles)
