While investigating a series of bizarre murders, Nick discovers that an ancient evil from his past is behind the crimes. LaCroix, his former vampire master, has returned to the city in search of Nick, his one-time pupil
The murders, coldly orchestrated by LaCroix, threaten to uncover Nick's sinister secret when he is arrested as the prime suspect. With the hel of his partner, Don Schanke, and the department pathologist, Natalie Lambert, the only mortal who knows his true identity, Knight escapes. Now an outlaw, he must track down the killer and find LaCroix before he is forced to give up his dream of regaining his mortality.

Okay - what happened to Stonetree? Was there an explanation for his departure that I missed somewhere? Or did they just switch up the Chief each season for no reason?

Between first and second season, Nick and Schanke moved to a different precinct...at least that's what my brain's telling me, which would explain the change--at least that would be the explanation within the series. I believe they were at the 27th precinct first season, and they're now at the 96th. I think it was somewhere in this episode...but am not one hundred percent sure as I didn't watch it this time around yet.

I remember hearing them mention something about precinct numbers, but btwn Schanke's pajamas and the new chief, I might have missed what they actually said ----

Thanx for the info!!

Actually, there is a very good reason for the season 3 switch, but that would spoil the two-part episode "Black Buddah" (season 2 finale & season 3 premiere). I'm not sure why they changed Captains in season 2, though. Perhaps there was a real life reason, such as an actor having another commitment, or perhaps it was just for the plot.

Actor Gary Farmer (Stonetree), wasn't happy with his role on the show and decided to leave. Kinda sorry to see him go, he was my favorite of all the Captains.
Matsuko Ohama (Cohen) left for the same reason at the end of the 2nd year.
