I am very impressed with the way this show was able to incorporate the egyptian and norse mythologies in the show. I was just wondering if they had any plans do use other mytholigies such as Hindu, Aztec, and African.

Also on a side note: How many Stargates have been found on Earth?

The Earth has such a rich and varied mythological history, it would be a pity to limit the show to only the best known. Unfortunately, without Daniel, there's little point into finding the more obscure since no one on the current team could make sense of it -- oh, except Jonas because he's memorized everything Daniel wrote down -- but that's not the same as what Daniel knew.

If a new mythology were introduced, something that Daniel had not seen on a previous mission and entered into his notes, how would the team decipher it? Does the ascended Daniel make a house-call for a quicky lecture in Togo mythology 101?

Or does the teami invest in "Ashanti Legends for Dummies" and "The Idiots Guide to Celtic Gods"? :D

I think 2 were found on earth. The second one was in the artic.

The show has also slighty ventured into Greek mythology with "Cronus" and chinese mythology with Yu. Sadly they were just introduced as system lord characters, no real mythology was explored.

In terms of gates, Teal'c implied it was fairly rare to have a second gate, though obvious possibly. It is still, theoretically, possible though VERY unlikely there is an as yet undiscovered third gate on Earth...

In religions, the episode Crystal Skull brought in Mayan religion, and technically in Demons we have had Christianity.

Greek was also covered in "Torment of Tantalus". Was "Brief Candle" Roman or Greek?

I notice that, presumably for modern sensibilities, they have not really gone for any extant or "living" religions, sticking to the historical ones which are no longer widely, if at all, practised.

Didn't Daniel explain he was an equivalent persona from Egyptian mythology, rather than specifically Christian?

I know we have seen several references to Egyptian, Norse Greek, Aztec/Mayan and Babylonian Mythology. Of course the primary being Egyptian Mythology. There are some good sites out there that are about mythology (not all are seen in SG-1 but is good if your just interested in it)

Just to name a few, my fav is Egyptian mythology, its very interesting.

On the other note, there were only 2 stargates on Earth. The first one, the one they found on the Giza Plateau was the first, then they found the second one in Antartica in 'Solitudes'.

In case your wondering how the Russians got their gate, after SG-1 transported their gate onto Thor's ship so they could escape, the ship crashed and the Russians recovered it from the bottom of the ocean. The SGC then used the one they found in Antartica. The Russians recovered the DHD they have in Germany, however, the DHD was destroyed in '48 hours' to bring Teal'c safely back home. The SGC's gate was destroyed in 'Redemption pt 2' as it was hurled through hyperspace so that it would not explode (Anubis got ahold of a device and had attempted to destroy Earth using the gate as a bomb) on Earth. They then got their original gate back from the Russians
