Battlestar Galactica Fans Are ****ed!

Why is the Sci-Fi Channel going to develop a new four-hour re-imaged’ version of Battlestar Galactica. The strange thing about The Scifi channel's announcement was that none of the people who had been trying to restart the show, X-Men writer and executive producer Tom DeSanto and original Galactica star Richard Hatch, are not involved with this Galactica show. Instead, the show would be written by Ronald D. Moore produced by David Eick. Moore landed his big break writing for Star Trek: The Next Generation went on to write two of the Next Generation, Trek movies. Ronald Moore owes his impressive resume to hardcore fans.

No kidding, he really does. What if The Star Trek series staring Shatner, Nimoy, Kelly and the rest of the core Enterprise crew, was canceled ten years ago? Then a notion to resurrect the show for a new audience, none of the original cast members or the series creator would be along for the second incarnation. That would not have been Star Trek: The Motion Picture and there sure as hell would never have been a big time movie like Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Oh boy lets not forget Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager and UPN’s successful Enterprise.

BattlestarGalactica.com, says that the Q & A session text may be redistributed without modification for non-commercial use by Battlestar Galactica fan-based web sites. But I found that it was so long that it was just too big to copy over here.

It's an interesting read, whether you agree with him, or see him as 'Satan' personified.

Personally, I found him to be repeating the same thing over and over again, without really giving adequate reasons for 'Why?' 'Creativity' seemed to be about his best reason for 're-imaging' rather than 'continuation.' He has a point about 'Galactic 1980', but that isn't a reason why 'continuation' would never work.
