My God...this cartoon should be cancled right now. The only decent thing in it is how they made teh gate look. Other than that, it's a visual nightmare. The dialoug is seriously lacking...was there even a line that didn't include "Stargate Comand", "Stargate", or "Andient"? The uniforms...why do they all have such different neon uniforms? They're in the military! At the very least, they should all have the same one.

All in all, this show is pretty much just a vehicle to sell toys, and well go down as fast as that crapy "The Mummy Returns" cartoon last year.

Whoa there, slow down a little..... Let's try to put things into a little perspective here. THE AUDIENCE or demographic (as Hollywood states it) is *definitely* little kids. As much as I (an adult fan) would like to see it as more of an 'extention' of the Stargate Universe, I think it does what it can with whatever obvious limited budget it has. It is very 'flashy' and has a lot of 'laser-type' sounds and karate kicks to satisfy kids, but it is NOT for mature audiences. Frankly, the first thing I noticed was that scar-looking-thing over Gus's (I think that's his name) left eye. It's very close to the one that RDA has in the show. Now I'm not saying that I'm satisfied with the show, but all in all I think it's "alright." I'm not rushing out and buying VCR tapes to make a video library of it, but I'll try to remember when it's on and watch it.

P.S. Hey, even the Star Trek cartoon didn't last *that* long, and it had the stars' own voices.

The less said about it the better, I don't know what they were thinking but they should be pumping the $ into either S7, Atlantis and/or the Film, not some cartoon.

It is quite embarrasing...

Can't say I was much impressed either --

honestly, I was terribly confused - there was no introduction of who anyone was or what they were doing or why - and this was the 2nd episode. What, did they put all the 'intro info' in the 1st ep? If so - gah! bad move! Esp if this is aimed at children - even small children want to know who the characters are and why they're doing what they're doing --

I don't think I'll be going out of my way to watch it - esp as it comes on at 0800 on Saturday -

Oh wow! I wasn't the only one confused? I just thought it was me since I missed the first ep....it was ok for a kids show I guess.... but really....the the whole thing was waaaaay confuseing...I I just sat there going "Who are these people? Where's Jack, Sam, Hamond, Daniel, Teal'c(sp?)? Anyone! (I didn't know it's set in the future)

*shrugs* But it's a saterday morning cartoon for kids, it could be worse...

tanu2, the demographic is no excuse for the poor level of quality. I have seen countless cartoons, both ones that people think should be targeted at kids and ones that actually are, that do in fact have very good quality animation. It's like I said, this show will serve no purpos than to push a toy line, thus the animators need only to push a basic, brightly collored concept of how everything looks, so they can be converted to action figures.

...and another thing, it [/b]is[/b] suppost to be an extension of the Stargate universe. The description of the series says it takes place X years in the future, plus they have made no atempt to suggest a different origion of the gate or the Stargate program, so an alternate version of the SG story is out of the question. If anything, the images in the opening reinforces that things are the same.

I heard that show isn't good, but hey, there are a lot of people who just have terrible capacities when it comes to think (no offense to the others here). Lots of people forget the target of such a show.

It's like the SW EU books for kids.

Same deal.

But, My main concern is how are we supposed to deal with anime from a tech pov ?

The avantage with anime is that you aren't limited with sceneries an things like that, and that's great.

Given the peak quality of the CGI in Stargate, maybe they should do a total CGI and mroe mature show ?

CGI is nowhere near the level where a serious show should be done in it 100%. Every show to be done as such has either looked bad, had overly slow movements, or bad backgrounds, or realistic looking animals with unrealistic humans.

Someday, but not yet.

I'd disagree, as above. It works because the CGI is generally small and enhancing the live action, not being part of it. Scenes such as "Prometheus" when the ship is first revealed, I certainly felt "that's SO clearly CGI". Even worse were scenes in "Crystal Skull" and "Unnatural Selection" where entire background scenes were CGI, and they were, frankly, awful (and obvious). [Though one admittedly is now 5 years old!]

I think one key is the much-hyped Matrix 2 - taking for example the infamous 1:100 fight scene. It's well known that Neo is replaced by a CGI double for some of the moves, and most people would agree: "you can tell". Maybe not every time, or for all of the shot, but you can still tell. And that's only in certain mid-to-long shots. At the moment they just can't get human skin and particularly faces right. Bodies are really coming along, even if they are all modelled on humans and then animated using motion capture! But no - I don't think they're ready yet.

Reloaded's biggest problem was that they kept the CGI too clean. The scenes were fast paced enough that while more texture and shading wouldn't make it totally realistic, it would have helped quite a bit.

Computer animation is coming along, though in stages. Pixar has gotten very good at animals of a realistic/cartoonish blend...Lucas is good at massive group scenes...MTV's new CGI Spider-Man series (while being ****ty cell-shading) has some of the best character body movement that I've seen from a 100% CGI television show.

Basically, we are nowhere near being at a level where we could have a good, high quality television show, composed completly of CGI. Also factor in how expensive high quality CGI gets, and how dang long it takes compaired to other methods...no...not yet. Neither the quality nor the process is ready.

It's not too bad

As a show for kids. It's not too bad.

At times the moral of the story is a bit heavy handed.
And I don't really understand why they are always in those
vehicals.
Still I find the show enjoyable.

I like it. I like the uniforms, the vehicles, the 'laser-type' sounds and karate kicks, and the planets that they go to.
