Enterprise in Widescreen

I just caught this episode again [Dear Doctor] on Channel 4. I just have two more observations:

Firstly, it appeared to be in widescreen (letterbox picture), it wasn't when it was on Sky One, and I think I saw bits I didn't before at each side. Was it just my imagination?

Secondly, I forgot about Porthos and his gas, and I thought that Phlox was speaking to Archer (which is what you are meant to), I missed that the first time around.

Don't think all of it is widescreen. Certainly the video isn't, just the closing scene with the Doctor in Sick Bay.

Probably a deeply significant point being made. Unfortunately it went entirely over my head.

Hmmm, that's interesting. All of my episodes are letterbox.

What station do you all watch Enterprise on?

I think Dave gets them on Sky and Channel 4 over here in the UK.

I get the videos, as the show appears every third sunday lunchtime on S4C.

Strangely the video boxes claim to be widescreen, though the tapes haven't been.

I watched them all on Sky One, that's the first time I've seen it on Channel 4. But that means I've been missing things on Sky One, because there was certainly more at each side of the picture. It wouldn't be anything vital, but when we analyse these episodes in the detail that we do, it's significant.

I get them on UPN here in the States, and they've all been letterbox.

I don't usually like widescreen, but I have to admit you do get more visual that way. With all the technology involved with this series, it's good to be able to see more than just the characters in the center of the screen.

Yeah -- we have the eps in widescreen -

When I first saw something in widescreen those little black lines across the bottom and top really bugged me, then, once I knew why they were like that -- I wished I had a wide screen tv --- and I prefer to watch things in widescreen --


now - back to this episode -- I liked this one a bit better than most of the others ---

Shuttlepod One is still my fave from S1 tho -

Yeah, Shuttlepod One is my favorite too, but I love the scene in here with the movie. Watching Trip cry at such a cheesy movie just absolutely cracked me up!
