Region 2 Box set of Season 1

Just in case anyone didn't catch it elsewhere - the R2 season 5 final DVD contains a flyer for the Region 2 Season 1 Box Set. To be released in October 2002. It shows the box set, which looks suspiciously similar to the US version, but with UK film classification logos...

Just a note for anyone who hasn't looked yet: this is the full DVD cut of the box-set, and therefore picks up the highest BBFC rating of all the episodes: 18! (which is applied for the nudity and snakey stuff in COTG)

What with S1 now coming out in a box set here (and at around £40 ain't to bad, once I get a job I think saving will be in order ) Will they be releasing the other seasons in boxset form?

I doubt it. The impression is that they released S1 by popular demand. The demand was for S1, not specifically a box.

They just happened to HAVE a box, admittedly in R1 format, so they just needed to convert to PAL from NTSC. THe box and sleeve cover-art was basically already there, it just needed BBFC logos and perhaps new addresses etc. They didn't need to repeat about 7 of the S1 episodes, but they did: it would have been cheaper for them not to; except for the re-use thing.

After all, why sell a box for about £40, when you can sell 6 sleeved discs for up to £18 each...

I got the DVD Season 1 Box Set. All that's on there are the epidoes, no extras no subtitles no directors commentary, nothing.

Which was a bit dissapointing as I was looking foreard to something on there as the individual DVD's that don't have the episodes in order do have extras and all that stuff.

Though at the end of the day I wanted to get all the episodes in order as gate has such continuaity in it.

It would have been nice to have a dirctors commentary on it though.

I can't afford to get the individual DVD's too. Also the soud quality seemes to be off, the picture quality is good but the music and effects are louder than the voices so it's hard to hear what's going on half the time.

Arg, I am slightly dissapointed I guess as I was hoping for a bit more. But the DVD's take up less space than the VHS anyway.

I think with the extras they weren't put onto the DVDs until Season 2 was released and because with the boxsets they have only packaged the individual ones up in a new box, they are the same, so there should be some extras in the next boxset, which is due out in a few days. I haven't noticed any problems with the sound...

Ooh - I wish I'd noticed that middle item of absence - just spent 40 UKP on a boxset I have no use for... :evil:
