Anybody ever read The Other World by Murray Leinster.
It bears many similarities to the original Stargate film.

It's been quite a while, but I think I can see where you're coming from. Of course, there are times it feels like all SF has come from someone else. The true gift is making an old idea feel new again.

Yes, you are right, I was just wondering if some of the inspiration for Stargate came from this particular story. Would anyone admit it if it was, and how could you find out ?
