This is the first time I have seen this show. And boy am I ticked that it has been cancelled. The episode was very enjoyable, if only because it made me want to watch more and more stories about this woman and her weird bracelet. The look of the show is I think what has really stood out for me. Take the supernatural elements out and we could be watching Law and Order or NYPD blue.
I am not familiar with the comic book, but I might give it a look over, to compare the show with the original material.
Yancy Butler I am also not familiar with - she was convincing as a New York cop (although the show is apparently filmed in Toronto - they must have a lot of stock footage from NY on standby). I liked the fact that she wasn't a pristeen model-type, in the mode of Max from Dark Angel or Buffy.
Interesting sub-plot in that the coroner is developing an alcohol problem. Butler's character gave the coroner advice that I am sure she has heard in the last few months in real life.
I give this ep 4 stars - more in hope of what is to come that on the merits of this particular story alone.
