Jackson Reveals Mace Windu Fate

Samuel L. Jackson told SCI FI Wire that he is preparing for his character Mace Windu's big death scene in Star Wars: Episode III. "I know what's going to happen," Jackson said in an interview. "I gotta go there. I gotta die."

Jackson went on to explain that he had a lunch meeting with George Lucas last month, during which time he tried to find out details of his character's impending demise. "We were just talking about stuff," Jackson said. "And then [Lucas] finally said, 'Okay, so you know you've got to die. I haven't quite figured out how I'm going to kill you yet, because I guess you're the most important guy that's going to die. In the other ones, Obi Wan is still there and Yoda's still alive and Darth is still there.' So I become the most important character that can die. I guess it's got to be pretty dynamic. So he's working that out." Star Wars: Episode III goes into production in June 2003 for a May 2005 release.

Any speculation on how you would like to see Mace die? I have a small idea.

I think it should be the first appearance of the original "phantom menace", Darth Sidious, in a combat-type situation. I would like to see a battle between these two, perhaps involving the electricity effect thing from ROTJ.

first off Tabitha its called force lightning:rolleyes:

seconed i think that for a charecter as improtant as Mace he cant die at any ones hands other than Darth Sidious, other wise it would seem to fake, i mean he is the second best fighter among the jedi. i know i would feel that he died to easilly if Dooku killed him:(

Well, you know what I meant!

Although, pondering this further, when I posted the above I thinkI had forgotten about Dooku's use of the 'force lightning', I was envisaging Mace's death being the first appearance of this scary weapon.

perhaps then it might be interesting to see Sidious wielding a Lightsaber (or is that Lazer Sword, tim :p ) - I can imagine his fighting style to be reminiscent of the Ringwraiths from LOTR.

yes lightsaber sounds corect;)

hmm im not sure that Sidious would use a lightsaber if he killed windu, i say this while being under the asumption that Sidious is Palpatine. casue Palpatine was powerful enough that he didnt need to use a lightsaber to kill his enemys, who knows mabye lucas will show us some new force power that he made up for the occasion;)

It will be Anakin that takes down Windu, and he'll do it after he has taken down Dooku. By then his Anger and resentment will be so great that it will make him a formidable Dark Jedi and give Mace one heck of a run for his money. As he has shown in both Episode one and two, Sideous works from the back and get's other's to do his dirty work, I can't see that changing for episode three.

I really hope it isn't. I know that Anakin has to turn to the Dark Side, and call me naive, but I'd really like to not see him do anything too terrible to any of our good guys :(

Yeah, I know, wishful thinking...

I still think that we will see some kind of action with Sidious. He may have been a background person in the prequels so far, but at some point he will need to reveal himself, and I think this would be best done via some action. I think there should be some kind of precedent in the prequels to show Sidious' power before we really get to see him use it in ROTJ.

i agree with u TAb, and Triffid u seem some what confident about ur post, are u not sharing some source with us?:rolly2:

I agree with triffid, I think. It's gonna be anakin who kills him, after turning to the dark side.

*wonders if he'll try going after yoda as well, that'd be kinda cool*

My Thoughts

True Mace is a great fighter but Dooku utilizes the older fencing style oppossed to sword fighting. This was a big disadvantage as seen in the fight between Dooku and Obi-Wan. Anakin has the power to kill Dooku if he utilizes all his rage and anger/the darkside. I believe Dooku will wound Mace and Anakin will kill him using so much anger and hatred that Windu realizes Anakin possesses enough of the darkside of the Force as to be a potential threat to all of the other Jedi. Windu threatens to tell and as a result Anakin will have to kill him as well.

is this a hypothesis on ur part commander cain, or something u heard?:rolly2:

interesting idea it is, and as of now i dont have anything toi contradict it, will have to think some more on this:rolly2:
