First off.... Is Kurt dumb or what?
If making a bet (ok ok, so it
was a very large one) can change the future, doesn't it seem a bit daft that he actually seemed to think this ploy might have worked? I mean, people getting famous these days generally has to do with them being in the right place at the right time, from what I can tell. Doomed from the beginning I tells ya. He would be much better off if he made a great many small bets, then it would only be making very small changes to the way things happened originally.
I did like very much how we were thrown a curve ball with Kurt's rousing speech, that in any othr movie or tv programme would have persuaded the music execs, against the odds, to sign the girl. But, alas no, real life had more influence in this segment than fantasy.
Secondly... Like the previous week's episode of SG1, this episode of O5 (hows that for an abbreviation?) completely ignores the cliffhanger from the preceeding episode. The episode was wonderful, so I am not annoyed in the slightest, but I am beginning to understand the criticisms that the show has been very slow moving in terms of actually getting to the bottom of the conspiracy.
As I just mentioned - wonderful episode! I have to say I loved every minute, and my flatmate kept coming in to the room to figure out what I was guffawing at, only to leave disgusted that it was still "that ******* SciFi show"
My favourite part has got to be Kurt's 'physicist' friend. And the scenes at the convention, and the mention of the 'Falcons', and the tongue in cheek statement that "that's the kind of storyline you see in cheap tv shows". ROFLMAO!
The actors really seem to be settling into their characters, especially Weller, who really stood out in this episode for me. I can't pinpoint anything exactly, but he was just great, both in his reactions to the crisis, and more importantly (for me), to the pompous English novelist.

Luckily, he left himself a note in the ice-box, and a video to remind himself who he is. Just before his wife leaves him, she tells him that the symbols are MIDI code for music. The resulting noise is able to reboot all their memories. Reset button!
This is my only real criticism. Just was too much a shot in the dark... How this failsafe mechanism implanted by the Seeker would have been able to figure out how to express itself confuses me. Also, with neil being such a computer geek, wouldn't he have known what that code was? Or was he put out of the picture before he had the chance?
Although I was a bit onfused by the 'partial' amnesia. Very strange.
