2.11: Precious Cargo

From early on in the this episode's story was very predictable
and it stayed that way to the end. That's usually a sign
of a bad episode, but this time it wasn't true for this episode.

Precious Cargo was a classic story done well. No super-cheesy
over-the-top dialog . . No wincing at painfully stupid character
actions . .

Kaitaama's complaints were not that of a spoiled-brat-rich-girl.
They logically followed from the character's perspective.

Okay enough of my review. I have a few question:
Was Kaitaama a Trill? In that last scene you could see a
pattern that looked like the Trill have.

If Kaitaama is a Trill did her trip to that plannet cause the Simiot(sp?)
to form or anything like that?

I thought she said she was from Krios Prime.

Rick Berman in 'Star Trek Monthly' #100
...We have a marvellous guest actress named Padme Lakshimi ['Food Network' TV host]. She's an Indian actress who's just gorgeous and talented beyond belief. She pays the feisty and eventually romantic counterpart to Trip....

So, Trip gets another romantic involvement. If he carries on this way he will rival Kirk!

Also, as they accidently wake her from stasis and she reveals that she isn't a passenger, but a prisoner, this relationship is destined to end in tears.

The writer, David A Goodman, is a newcomer to the show [which must be unusual, there having been so much 'trek'.] Previous credits include scripts for 'Wings', 'Futurama' and 'The Golden Girls'.

My thoughts entirely Dave.. Is it goign to be trip or archer who gets the girls in season two ???

Was a not so bad episode but slow. and nothing out the ordinary

I liked this episode. I might go as far as saying it was the best yet this season. I agree with McHorde-Trooper that it was a little predictable but it wasn't cheesey, the romantic part with "Princess Leia" and "Han" Trip was very well done, which is IMHO hard to do well in scifi situations.

I really didn't know how it was going to end. Of course I could put it down to the writer being 'new blood', which is what I have said 'Enterprise' needs.

One thing I thought though, I think that in Britain we may appreciate these guest actors more than you do in America. There have been quite a number of these guest actors and actresses and they all seem to be well known from somewhere or other. In this instance, Padme Lakshimi is "the Food Network TV host", but I have absolutely no idea what the 'Food Network' is, so to me she was just a good actress.

One problem was the aliens again -- another set of nose and foreheadpieces with ponytails -- what hairdo can we add that we haven't used yet? I wonder why we never meet them in the next 250 years?
