Dinner With Dana
gs: Kristen Dalton (Dana Bright) Callum Keith Rennie (Max Cassidy)

Johnny agrees to a date and dinner with Dana Bright in return for her doing an interview. His powers kick into overdrive, as he keeps getting visions of everyone he knows giving him dating advice. The date goes well despite even more visions of Dana with various men in her life, including Max Cassidy, a photographer and jealous lover. Johnny is also plagued by a vision of bright lights. Eventually they end up in bed where Johnny has even more visions of his friends and mother and Rev. Purdy...which make it a bit difficult to *ahem* perform. Afterwards they part on somewhat melancholy terms, but Johnny puts together the visions and realizes the bright lights are the car headlights of Cassidy, who has been drinking and plans to kill Dana in a jealous rage. Johnny calls the police who show up to stop Cassidy just in time.

The things I enjoy more of this eppy of course was the acting as guest star of Callum Keith Rennie as always he was excellent. ;)
Also enjoy how the visions interrupted at any moments during the date. Really hilarious. :D

I enjoyed this one - it gave us a little bit more info about Dana and we finally get to see what her relationship is (or was) with Rev Purdy - although, somehow, I don't she her and Rev as a couple - a bit icky if you ask me

The little vision moments in the bedroom were very funny and Johnny's comment that it was a good job he had a king size bed made me laugh - good to see he finally got some !!

Dana and Purdy as a couple is the ickiest thing I have seen all week! Ew ew ew ew!

Other than that I found this to be a very enjoyable episode, the acting was wonderful, especially on Dana's part. Previously I have found her character to be rather dull and one-dimensional, but this episode gave her some room to really stretch. Rennie was criminally underused, unless he is coming back for a follow-up episode I am quite disappointed. His character was effective, but it seemed odd for someone so recognisable to have such a small role.

The bedroom scene was a little awkward - I found myself cringing again and again, but I suppose it addressed the issue of what it might be like with that ability in that sort of situation.
I like how the creators seem to have little difficulty in presenting johnny's power in a slightly different light each week - purposefully leaving it very unquantifiable and vague.

Not the best episode so far, but certainly welcome from the perspective of getting some decent character development. Roll on next week.
