Hey did anybody else here in the UK watch GA on Parkinson?

First thing i need to talk about - her accent! How not American was that! I never even knew she lived in England, DUH and she sounded more English/Australian than American, i thought it was v.cool :D

I felt kinda sorry for her cos Paul Whitehouse/O'Gradys British humour was going right over the poor girls head, she didnt have a clue, but she was a good sport :D

I loved her hair! She's had it died lighter, its really nice, and she looked very trim and cute :) she really is little! Yay, like me!

PS - Should this go in the GA forum? Oops, my bad, didnt think

I saw part of it (my flatmate was trying to make me watch Red Dwarf). And yes - her accent is truly bizarre! Did she give any reason? You know, like she has been living in the UK constantly since she wrapped the X Files? I also liked the new hair - but I think her overall look was quite like Kate Winslet.

Well she said she was born in the US, but after a couple years there she moved to England and stayed here for quite a bit but then went back over the US to act, so over there she sounds English, but over here she sounds American (not so much now tho lol)

Now i think about it she was quite Kate Winslet-ish, but still, thats not bad thing, i really liked her hair :D

I've seen interviews with her before. She says the English accent is just something she slips into (For some uncontrollable reason I do the same thing when I hang around long enough with someone with a different accent).
Shame I aint in London, I wouldn't mind going to she her on stage (then again I might be going back down at Christmas so...)

Yeh, Paul Whitehouse and Paul O'Grady are a hard act to follow but she did ok. Maybe she will appear on the Fast Show :D

As for the hair - I love it. Why? Cos it's exactly the same as mine! :rolly2:

I might be going down to London at Xmas too, to visit an American friend who might be coming over (but she doesnt know whether she'll come over Xmas or next summer) but we're huge xf/ga/scully fans so if she comes over we'll most probably go :D

I do the same with my accent too. Lol, i have a strong Yorkshire accent, i might be visiting London for a month or so over Xmas, i'm planning on visiting Ireland next summer and then off to America the year after. God knows what my accent will be by then! Interesting to say the least

But yeah i was kinda shocked when she started speaking, i'm so used to the strong American accent after 9 years of it. I was like 'huh'?

I only saw part of this, but I knew she had lived in London as a child. When the X-Files first began she was often reported to be an English actress!

Did she say which London play she will be appearing in?

Y'know i think she just might have done, but i didnt catch it, if you look online at the London theatres i'm sure it'll be well advertised her being Hollywood type an' all :)

Sorry i cant help more :(

OK, If anyone else is interested:

From the West End Theatre Guide
Michael Weller's play 'What the Night is For' opens at the Comedy Theatre on 27 November 2002, with previews from 7 November 2002.
Gillian Anderson plays 'Melinda Metz', a married woman, who after many years, once again meets her married ex-lover in a hotel room - the result - one passionate night of honesty and deceit, hope and regret. Uncompromising in its attitude towards modern marriage and infidelity, 'What the Night is For' directly addresses the question: Is the person you are with the right one? Or are they still out there?

It's not something I would see usually, and I wouldn't go and see a play just because an actor or actress was in it, unless they were someone I knew personally.

Oh that sounds good actually, the only plays i've ever been to are Shakespeare or Pantomines so it would be a change :)

Does it say how long its running for?

Thanks for the info :D

It didn't say how long, but if plays are popular they run for ever, if they aren't then.....

If it's only starting in November, it must run until Feb/March at the very least.
