Some questions about Gatecon 2003

Hi!

Firstly, what are the dates going to be? (Roughly if it's not finalised...)

And what are the different ticket types? Are there going to be more types going on sale later? And what do the different ticket types give you?

I've never been to Gatecon before. In fact I'm in the UK and I've never been across the Atlantic. :circle: But I'm hoping to make it next year!

Some rough answers

Okay, unless things have changed since I talked to Richard at the end of the con {and I'm hoping Richard or Allan will correct me if I'm wrong since they also mod this forum]}:

It should be the same weekend; aroghly the second full weekend of the month.

We were talking about only one type of ticket, not the two {VIP & SuperQuad} we've been offering and a rough on the price is $225 US {roughly 145 Pounds Sterling, I think}. None of the ticket prices have gone up over the last three years and some of the rise is necessary just for cost of inflation [to pay for things like equpiment rental for stare, etc]. Going with only one type of ticket helps lower the confusion of who gets what privelidge.

Hope this helps.

The Official Word

The official word just in from Richard:

The booking forms for 2003 are now online.

Dates for Gatecon 2003 are the 11th-14th September back at the Best Western Richmond Inn in Vancouver.

Guest announcements will be made as and when available.
We will also be operating the room booking scheme once more and will let you know when that is up and running.

Please note that the ticketing structure is changing for next year. We will now have just one ticket type (no longer the division into VIP's and SuperQuads) but the price currently quoted on site is incorrect and should read $210 per ticket (and not $225).

There may also be other changes made to the overall structure of the convention and these will be announced as decisions are taken.

Work is underway on the convention video and photo CD and we hope to have these available for shipment in early December. We'll let you know as soon as we are ready to take orders.

Finally a belated but huge thankyou to everyone who supported the convention this year.

.....

Woohoo!

:laugh2:   :wink2:

Bought my ticket! I'm currently out of work, and about to have my last funds wiped out at SG5, so wish me luck! Now I just need to find a job so I can pay the airfare and stuff.

Not been abroad since I was a kid, and never across the Atlantic...

So, sounds like they are doing stuff by ticket order this year? Works well at UK cons... I hope my tickets reasonably low. Anyone know how many they've sold so far? (did I hear some were sold at the last con?)

Questions

We've done things by ticket number in the past with VIP's going first and then SuperQuads if there was time and space. A few ticket were either sold outright at the con or placed on order with payments being made. There certainly are tickets left. We booked the GateCon2002 for 700 this year. Even if we drop the limit a hundred or so, I know we haven't sold 600 tickets so far.

I booked my ticket about an hour before you posted this message, but I take it that I'll have been charged the $210 rather than $225.

But, can't wait until next year - already counting the days.:D
All I need now, like the other Rowan here, is money to pay for the flights and stuff.

Dr Jackson, that is correct... Nobody will be charged the $225. That was just a programming oversight that has since been fixed (D'OH)
