VIP tickets vs. SuperQuads

I noticed in another thread that there will be no VIP or SuperQuad tickets next year...just one type of ticket for all. Sounds like an interesting idea, I hope it works out for all concerned.
My question is what was the difference between the two tickets anyway? I have to say other than the cocktail party and the banquet I found no benefit at all to having a VIP ticket! Did I miss something? Was there not supposed to be a guaranteed pic or something? Fill me in someone because I'm confused!

Difference

The differences [other than the cocktail party and dinner] were:

VIPS:
Front area seating on the panels
First shot at autographs and photo sessions.

Super-Quads:
General seating
No promise of autographs or photo sessions.

Thanks for the info. Rowan! :D

Still think I missed something tho....When I was in line for my pics I was "asked" to get out by security. Was also told I missed my chance because my # was called in the morning but in the morning there was no one there I wanted a pic with. So what did I do wrong?

And a general interest question...what was with the security rules change at the beginnings of the panels? For the first day or so as long as everyone was quick(and I hope polite) we could all pop up to the front of the aisle to get a pic. And then no one was allowed out of their seat for a pic. Now this time I freely admit I missed the announcement and just never got around to asking why?

And while I'm rambling....I hope everyone's pic of themselves in Chronos' throne turned out as nice mine did(although you should wait to get your pics until the people you just kicked out for doing that have actually left the room:rolly2:  :p )

All in all it was an interesting time this year

Situation

Ah, there was a piece of confusion with that particular photo shoot. I was in the middle of running errands and not sure all what happened.

Yes, folks did get shunted around. One of the reasons we're going to the 'one type of ticket' format is to decrease the chances of things like that happeneing again.

I'm not usually this ****y but.........

While I understand that mistakes are made (after all we're only human...or not;) )...that still doesn't make me feel a lot better about having a ticket that "guaranteed" me a pic with someone and not getting a pic with anyone!!!

I'm still paying off Gatecon 2001 and now I can add the cost of Gateon 2002 to the debt (my choice so no one rant about me spending money I don't have, please). I'm fine with that; I had a decent time both years and don't regret the expenditures.

But I am still rather annoyed that I spent so much money this year so I could get a pic of myself with AT and CN and I came home with nothing!!!!!!

So much for VIP tickets.......

Hey Rowan, ...maybe I'll FINALLY meet you...I might actually get my but out to Richmond this year. Do you know what the difference is usually between all the days? I don't know if it's worth getting all 4 days if it's all going to be the same. Or typically is the weekend better?

Questions

Good questions, Skoon. Now please remember that the actual schedule is firmed up only a few weeks in advance of the con [depending on actor's schedules], but I can give you a rough idea.

Thursday: usually major sign in day and the Cocktail party that evening. If we have the city tour of filming location, it's on this day.

Friday: Day - Actor's panels, photo shoots and autographs - who is there depends on what their shcedule is like.
Evening - we've done the banquet in the past, but I'm not sure what's on this year's agenda

Sat: Day - repeat Friday with whoever is there.
Eve - Usually the auction with the actors helping out.

Sunday: Repeat of Sat with usually a panel of the crew [gaffers, lighting, wardrobe, makeup, stunts] plus the writers/producers panel. It depends on who can come.

Also: *IF* we can do a tour of the set, this the the day for it becasue they don't shoot on Sundays.

Evening: the Volunteer's party.

Monday: sometimes we repeat the city tour if there's enough interest.

Also - the 'GateGoers' list on Yahoo will ofter put together outings that run before and after the con. This last year we did "Bard On the Beach", ' a tour of the local observetory, went en-mass to Colin's play, had a dinner out at 'Spiro's Greek Restraunt', etc. We're a fun group. GateGoers on YahooGroups

Now, as I said, the con activities I've listed are not set in stone. Sometimes we find out at the last minute an actor can't come, but this is a pretty good outline of the last three years.

Row;)

thanx Rowan...I'm leaning towards all the days...as long as I meet other fans, I don't mind touring around & helping in that area...seeing I live here...
