I have just read this report on the Save Daniel Jackson website and I am assuming that it's most likely true, so thank you to them for reporting it:
26-Oct-02 *Updated Season Seven news from N. John Smith's panel at Wolf SG-5 con*
Thanks to fellow SDJ Steerer Marel for taking notes during Executive Producer N. John Smith's panel this morning at Wolf SG-5 con in Blackpool (UK). The big news for Stargate fans is that Season Seven is confirmed. A week ago last night (Fri 25-Oct-02), the producers cut a deal with Richard Dean Anderson. Eight days ago it was 'set on paper'. (Smith said it twice.) Richard Dean Anderson is to work a 3.5 day week: Tues/Wed/Thur/Fri am. He will work for 105 days, filming until 15-Aug-03. That week they will film the Season Seven finale, so as to include Anderson. This, they hope, will segue directly into filimg a 'feature'. Smith said this a couple of times, but he emphasised the feature is not yet 100% certain. After that, the spinoff.
Smith mentioned Amanda Tapping and Chris Judge as being on board for Season Seven but he didn't mention Corin Nemec. When asked about Michael Shanks' participation, Smith responded that Michael Shanks will certainly be returning in some context, but he can't say what yet.
He reported that they are very behind with the scripts for the seventh season. Robert C. Cooper will be the new showrunner, with Brad Wright around to write scripts and he added (Marel thinks) remain as an Executive Producer. Joe Mallozzi and Paul Mullie will be writing, plus there will be scripts from some non-staff writers.
Oh, and Smith also said as far as Season Seven is concerned there will be 'interesting things', and that the situation is being
updated daily. More from him tomorrow. Smith stated We all love Michael. All the producers love Michael." He went on to say that Shanks had left saying that he wanted to move on and then changed his mind, but had left it too late. And that was what had
happened.
More from Marel tomorrow when she reports back on Chris Judge's panel. Apparently, he wants to write a juicy story for Amanda
Tapping, showing us Sam's sexy, sultry side
