<knocks on walls of empty pyramid and everything echoes back>

Anyone home? Gee....I guess everyone is too scared to post anything into this particular thread in case MGM/Sci Fi come back and say in a loud booming voice:

"Season 7? Are you fans all completely nuts? Season 7 is just a figment of all your collective imaginations!"

Only kidding....I always wanted to be the very first to post in a thread.....kinda like jumping in the pristine snow and leaving footprints all over it.

Only....I'm not really the first.

<waves at Dave who was optimistic enough to put the Rules of Etiquette in months ago! Peace and long life mate!>

So......the saga continues huh? How does everyone feel about that, or are you still all in shock?

;)

*faints* Oh when I opened up this thread I thought your red text was for real (lesson - don't try and digest ANY kind of info until after 8am :D )

I'll join ya Anni, in fact I think I might make a whole 'nother thread of my own :D

ROTFLMAO!

 :laugh2: :gaptooth:  :naughty:

There's one born every minute!!!

Sorry Tabitha, didn't mean to frighten your cornflakes down your neck! Are you back in the UK doing your course yet or have you given up on the idea?

Yep I'm back in the UK (to paraphrase Jagger and Bowie). I was just checking out the new threads on here before running out to uni this morning - I was too shell-shocked to reply to your post then

I am doing the International relations course I talked about before - and it is bloomin hard going. I also work four evenings a week so it can make it hard to squish in any fun stuff
:(

But it'll be worth it - the course is interesting and it is wonderful to be using my brain again :D

It will be worth your while and I wish you luck at it, hon.... and I know what you mean about using your brain!

In the meantime, you have Season 7 to lull you into studying!

Or not........

:D

Hi "mucky pup" - you know who you are. ;)

I am looking forward to Season 7 not that I've seen all of S6 yet. hehehe!!!!

We shall see what they come up with.

Hi Tabitha  don't work too hard. :)

annette :D

Yes I know who I am.....but how unfair of you to publicise the fact!

:D

The joke is that I never expected anyone to post on this thread! I just saw the empty Season 7 forum and it was like a red rag to a bull!

At least I can say I was the first at something! LOL

All of the other folk have loftily treated it with the contempt they aparently feel it deserves - apart from you and Tabitha, who are quite obviously as shot away as I am!

   :laugh2: :blah:

I'm sorry. :( Please forgive me. :(

I was quite surprised to hear that another Season was on its way. Lets hope it will not outrun its popularity and the writers come up with some good storylines which are believable.

annette :)

I was kidding you great wally!

You didn't really think I was upset did you? ROTFLMAO.

Just to explain to Tabitha, when Annette came to stay with me a couple of weeks ago, we went into Guildford and had lunch. Annette ate hers.....mine decorated the front of my tee shirt. In fact more went onto the tee shirt than in my mouth. Add to that it was a bright red colour tastefully splattered over a pale blue shirt and you have the full, horrible picture!

This show is going to be like the last guest at the wedding. The one that never wants to leave. Everyone is dressed in nighties and jim-jams and the spirit of Stargate is still in there, dressed in party gear and prepared to rock till it drops!

I have a bad feeling about it somehow. The show lost a lot of impetus after Season 3, so they have next to none to carry them through another season. And St Daniel is undescending. I have terrible reservations about how they will handle that too.

Well time will tell.

 :D

I really hope not! I don't want to be the last one standing at the bar. It could go either way. It's really up to the writers. I'm not sure the show 'Jumped the Shark' in S3, but S6 is not the best season by a long stroke. Lots of reasons for that, all of them discussed already.

There was a time when I prefered 'Stargate' to 'Star Trek: Voyager' and it was the best thing on TV. Not any more, I definitely prefered 'Enterprise' last year, and this year I like 'Odyssey 5' just as much I think.

I also thought Enterprise had the edge over Stargate. I personally feel that the show did start losing the plot around about Season 4. Not quite sure why. It seemed to go off at a tangent. It actually got to the stage where I was wondering why it was called Stargate, since that particular artifact hardly ever figured in it any more.

I loved the movie for all the reasons that the more obsessive fans appear to hate it. I thought that Kurt Russell's portrayal of a much darker Jack had more depth to it. I know many will not agree with me. But I feel that RDA's portrayal of a wisecracking, very surface Jack O'Neill wasn't true to the original character. Michael Shanks was much more successful at carrying on with the portrayal of a constantly morally troubled Daniel than RDA was. The latter changed the character with an almost 180 degree turnaround and it was too much for me.

Instead of gooing and gushing over the sarcastic humour RDA brought to the role, he merely irritated the hell out of me and I thought the addition of Sam Carter to the mix was pointless. She was so obviously just the sop to the female audience it was blatant and transparent. Again, I am not into gushing over characters. The addition of Teal'c made more sense than Sam Carter did.

Anyway......I'll get off my soapbox <sigh>. Suffice it to say that I think that Season 7 may be a mistake that I hope nobody lives to regret. Daniel's descension and his inclusion back in the team after all the fuss and hooraw made over the past year just makes me shudder. The Stargate people should have stuck to the initial decision. I truly think that Daniel coming back is a mistake. The show had to move on when MS left and now it's trying to take a retrograde step. Backward steps almost never work. You move on, you go forward. You can't claw back the past.

Somehow this show has just drifted miles away from the Sci Fi genre and now floats around in the realms of pink, sugar-coated Cloud Nine unbelievability. I shall watch, but with only mild interest. I will also keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't stagger and crawl, whimpering, to its last episode.

Hope springs eternal.............and fools go on forever!

Season 7

Well, I guess I'll be the 'one small candle shining in the darkness' here then as I believe S7 will go well and we'll have some good, solid, kick-ass episodes.

Rowan

LOL. Well at least someone is burning a candle for them. Let's hope it isn't a funerary candle.

The only way that Stargate could provide some good, solid kickass episodes now for Season 7 is to go back to the Season 1 modus operandi and ditch Mallozzi and Mullie as writers. I thought the episodes they wrote were banal to say the least.

However, since there's about as much chance of that as resurrecting Cronus or me taking off in a spaceship, I shall just watch the show the way I watch all shows, with an open a mind as I can!

Sorry everyone, truly I am. It truly is JUST a TV show for me. I watch, I think about it for all of 15 minutes and then I go off and do something more interesting with my life. Like living it and not sitting sequestered in front of the goggle box watching Stargate re-runs.

Perhaps if large portions of my life revolved around it, I could get excited! But they don't. I'm getting too damn old to commit my energies to something like a TV show. I have places to go, things to do and people to see and meet! There's a lot of world out there and I have limited time in which to see it!

I sincerely hope that Season 7 does provide all of the die hard fans with what they want. One thing's for sure, those who wanted Daniel back badly enough have had their prayers answered. Let's hope both the writers and the actor don't disappoint any of you.

But cheer up Rowan, there'll be lots and lots of folk who'll want to hold a candle in the window. You won't be alone!

Heresy! Actually, I agree with you Anni. A little humor is fine, but a little sarcasm goes a long way. As for Sam, when I re-watched COTG on SciFi, I couldn't for the life of me think of a single reason why a Doctor of Theoretical Astrophics would be on a first contact military team. It just doesn't make any sense, especially as the first couple of seasons had the team exploring rather primitive worlds for the most part, and the closest thing to scientific work the 'visionary genius' got to do was gathering soil samples.

Daniel on the team, even though he's not military, was a lot more plausible, considering his cultural knowledge and translation skills. I really wish they had kept Kowalsky as the fourth team member and relegated Sam to the base like Janet and Hammond.

I'm not going to pretend I'm not happy MS is returning to the show, but I do hope that TPTB handle it well.

Yep

It's okay, Anni. I agree with the feeling that to get the show back I want to see it back it's it's S1 & S2 context. I'm willing to give it a chance, the same as I've been willing to give S6 a chance.

And since I'm a believer in 'positive thought helps create positive action', that'll be my approach until proven otherwise.

Besides, enjoying the various SF fandoms [and school, etc] are much nicer things to spend the winter on than the ongoing 'battles' between me and the Veteran's Administration. That part of 'Real Life' I can do without.

Rowan

Believe me Rowan, I know a little of what you are going through. Not that we have a VA for me to fight with, but the MOD are a pretty good facsimile! However, my last relationship was with a former US Marine Corps Captain, who had constant ongoing battles with the VA. The times I sat with him in the VA hospital in North Carolina while he had examination after examination.

We just have to fight the National Health Service here in the UK and there are masses of tests they should be doing, but constantly plead poverty.

I have watched Season 6 with a fairly open mind. I was particularly interested in Abyss, but not for Daniel's appearance. Cliff Simon who played Baal is from South Africa like me and I was completely horrifically fascinated by a System Lord with one of the strongest Jaapie accents I have ever heard.

"Cleally yu have bun heuh!" (Translation= "Clearly you have been here!")

I couldn't stop listening to it, it was so hilariously appalling. However, I am prepared to forgive him, because he was very appealing to look at! I'd have to sellotape his mouth up though, because sweet nothings with that accent would have me in stitches. Not very romantic!

Jobeth: I think they shouldn't have bothered with Sam at all. Kowalsky should have been the fourth member (and I don't even like Jay Acovone very much, but his acting is good!).

The problem with Daniel coming back is that:

a) It's kinda tacky that the whole MS leaving thing actually happened in the first place......but

b) It's almost tackier, them bringing him back.

However before I get the anthrax through the mail, I should say that Daniel was an integral part of the team, and it did seem odd without him. Although I didn't dislike Jonas at all.

The bringing back part is the bit that worries me slightly, because one false step and they could make a major clanger. They need to be very, very careful how they present this re-emergence to the viewers. The Daniel on line fans may well just greet his appearance however it is done with cries of joy, and the fan who is ambivalent might be prepared to give the benefit of the doubt, but the average viewer hasn't been party to any of the hooraw over the past year. They may just think......he was dead and now he's back? How quaint.....how absolutely stupid....how unbelievable.

I'd just like to stick up for the South African accent - I think it's lovely, if a bit weird when you first hear it. Although maybe having family from out there has helped me acclimatise.

Sorry O/T, I shuush now before our new S7 mod slaps me wrist ;)
