That's something I honestly don't know, Skoon. I wish I did. I don't think is fair to the character or the actor to dismiss them out of hand. I don't know how the old and the new are going to be integrated.

I do assure you if/when I hear anything, I'll pass it on.

Missed out

I missed alot of last season and when I picked up half way through season saw that DJ left. Why did Michael Shanks leave? I heard rumors that he had a creative difference with the other actors. Fill me in. Thanks.

the abbreviated version:
MS left the show due to "creative differences" with the production staff. During the year he was gone he had steady- if not headline grabbing- work. Meanwhile, Stargate moved to the scifi channel and added Corin Nemec to the cast - they got good ratings. A deal was worked out with RDA that cleared the way for a seventh season. MS is coming back for the seventh season thanks to a mutual agreement between him and the show's creative team. There has been an incredible amount of unpleasantness and hostility between groups of fans in cyberspace over all of this but basically that's it.

I'd have to agree with Rowan, I think that Jonas would probably be demoted to researcher.

Although I would like to see the idea I've been playing with in a fanfic that I'm still writing. The idea is that SG-1 becomes a five man team as each member does have something to contribute to the team, and technically, Daniel was never taken off the SG list as he was neither MIA or dead.

Ah, Dr. J. I didn't say Jonas would be demoted to researcher. My comment was that I had no idea at this time how Jonas would be integrated into the SGC and/or SG-1. If/when I hear anything concrete, I'll let folks know.

Of course I have no idea either, but I guess that SG-1 is to become a five-man team.
If Corin Nemec signs the contract and is on board for season seven I don't think Jonas will stay on the base as a kind of research assinstant or researcher. We already have Nyan and never even saw a glimpse of him after 'New Ground'.

It mentions in an article about Daniel descending whether he would have any clothes on? got me wondering what they did with his body? Did they have a funeral since he wasnt actually dead? What about his apartment and possessions? Where do the rest of the world outside the SGC think daniel has been all this time? If he was officially declared dead then returing could be difficult and if not then wont he have a lot of back taxes and rent to pay??

No, he wasn't officially declared dead so there was no funeral.
I understood that there wasn't any body after his ascension. We can't really see it clearly in Meridian but in my opinion there wasn't any body left like in Maternal Instinct, when the monk ascended again after being shot by the Jaffa. His body just disappears and turns into this glowing light.

Many fans guess that Jonas moved into Daniel's appartment.
I don't think this makes sense since he has Daniel's fish in his (Daniel's ex-) office. Why move them there if he had moved into his appartment?

About the outside world: Daniel doesn't have to have many contacts outside the SGC. And the few he has, we can assume he doesn't contact them on a regular basis. In The Curse we learn that his ex-love and his friend haven't heard anything from him since he joined the SGC. He didn't even visit his grandfather since he joined the SGC. Janet said that in Crystal Skull. So I don't think there's anybody who may have been trying to contact him during this year or wondered where he may be...

Since Daniel has been declared dead before twice (after the movie and in Fire and Water) and got back all of his belongings I don't think he'll have too many problems with things like that this time.
Again, it's fannon not cannon that Jack may have kept his belongings for him after the movie and some things in Fire and Water. So since this time they know he's not dead, they may be a lot more cautious to put his things away.

jonas wouldn't have moved into daniel's apartment, simply because he lives on the base like Teal'c. In fact, he was there for 3 months before he even left (redemption) and it seems that, while he has free run of the sgc, he is a glorified prisoner, just like teal'c.

As to Daniel's apartment, it's possible that it's still there. If he's never been declared officially dead, then he still has a monthly paycheck etc. to deal with.

Personally, i think it's more likely that his stuff was went through to make sure there's no classified stuff there, then packed up and put into storage, maybe at the sgc, but also possibly at Peterson AFB since they'd have more room.
