What is the nature of the conspiracy?

I thought I would start this thread specifically to talk about the conspiracy, as we seem to be repeating a lot of the same questions week after week in the episode threads.

We have so far got to episode 9. Episode 14 is the last in season one, and I am pretty sure I read that they have a 20 ep season two order. Here in the UK we should get ep 14 before Christmas, and then goodness knows how long before S2. In the meantime we can try and hash out the conspiracy, and see if we can pick up any clues we have missed.

Here's a basic outline of what I can remember:

1) Earth Destroyed in 2007, 'The Seeker", some kind of artificial life-form, rescues the only remaining humans and sends them back five years, to try and find out why it all happened. The Seeker is trying to find the answer because he has encountered world after world that have suffered the same fate.

2) Bright Sky and Leviathan are key elements. We know that Leviathan (V4) has been involved in the creation of artificial intelligence. We don't know what Bright Sky is, other than it is somehow linked to the Astronaut program.

3) There is some kind of AI, called 'sentients' loose on the internet - do we know what they are doing?

4) There are synthetic human beings, being grown in labs, and replacing human beings. We don't know their motives or their goals. They are likely connected to the sentients, as Dr Chandra's assistant and former lover had been replaced by a synth and he was the one that discovered the sentients.

5) The synthetics are not just replacing human beings, but are also studying them, to understand the nature of aggression - we don't know why, but the synths have claimed to be the 'future' of humanity/earth/what?

6) There is a mysterious body within Nasa (and the military/government) called 'The Cadre', dedicated to eliminating manned space flight, and pushing a program of developing unmanned space flight.

Ok then, this is now open for discussion (or should that be confusion? ;) ), I am sure I have missed important points, and some things I cannot fit into the conspiracy angle - like the little girl and the ants, or the mysterious time traveller guy.

If I remember Dr Chandra didnt just discover the sentients on the Internet he claimed to have created them.

He said that somehow his early AI escaped and devolped itself on the internet.

He said the sentients financed thier growth through porn and gambling web sites.... (ok so i made that bit up hehehe you wanted a conspiracy :) )

There are so many vairables at the moment.

With the new information in 'Flux' and 'LUD-7', we also now know that synthetics don't have to be just grown in a vat, a nanobot infection can also start re-writing humans at a molecular level, and turn them into a synthetic. Synthetics can also be inanimate objects, like a maximum security prison.

We also know from a Manny Coto interview that Project BrightSky is the name given to a satellite, an orbital lab platform to carry out experiments in space.

In 'Flux', Chuck was compelled to visit the 'Sentient' "who created" him, where he met other synthetics who seemed to be a part of a cell. Does this mean that all the sentients are organised into cells, with their own group of synthetics, and each with a different species of nanobot?
