Anyone else notice that after they encountered the Tollan, SG-1 tended to only encounter civilizations at least as or more advanced than we are?
 
Not strictly true - since we first met the Tollan at the end of series 1 (in "Enigma") and we have seen many less advanced cultures since.

Presumably you mean since "Pretense" and "Shades of Grey"?

Its also not true... we have had the Unas species, and indeed the primeaval Goa'uld in "The First Ones" and the Enkarans in "Scorched Earth", and I haven't though about S5 onwards yet...
 
The people in "Red Sky" weren't advanced enough to rate direct Asgard intervention.
