Why haven't the SGC asked the Asgard for technology? They would obviously be willing to provide it...

One question, and one statement.
In reverse order:
1) I am fairly sure this is the opposite of true . Most of the advanced races, some even more than others, are very reluctant to pass their technology on to the less developed races. See the following episodes for evidence: S1 - Enigma, S3 - Pretense, S3 - Shades of Grey, S5 - Between Two Fires.
Note that this doesn't stop requests in the other direction: S4 - Nemesis, S5 - Exodus

2) They pretty much have, at different times, but as a result of the conclusions of S3 - Fair Game, their options are limited, e.g. S5 - Red Sky, and S5 - Fail Safe.
Note, that this doesn't prevent unilateral direct help (rather than being given or loaned something) if the situation (which tends to be self-helping for both sides anyway) requires it: S1 - Thor's Hammer, S2 - Thor's Chariot, S3 - Shades of Grey etc.

Yeah, the Asgard are aslways willing to help, but SG-1 went to the Tolan and directly asked for technology, which they have never done with the Asgard. I might be wrong, but I can't really see the Asgard saying "Sorry, but we don't trust you". And we all know how much they like O'Neill .

I was just wondering why they ask other races, when the Asgard are much closer allies, and anything they could provide would be a big help. E.g. remember that invisibility stone in shades of grey . Anyway, I was just wondering what peoples thoughts were on the matter.

P.s. How do you remember all of the episode names and what they were about? Or did you look them up?

hehehe. I don't know about PTeppic, but the episode names have been engraved into my frontal lobe
Plus, I've been known to sit and watch 3 seasons of stargate on DVD without stopping for a toilet break.

Have you checked out AusGate ? 600+ days doing SG-1 questions day-in-day-out tends to fix that sort of thing in your mind.

Same for me as well (but not quite 600 days) and the 18 hour SG-1 marathon I watched when I was ill. That had it's side effects though - have found myself saying "for cryin' out loud" a lot more recently :rolly2:
