2.18: The Crossing

from Trek Today
Enterprise is swallowed by an otherworldly vessel occupied by noncorporeal creatures who invade the bodies of crew members and trade consciousnesses with them.

The original draft of the script included a character named Crewman Rooney, presumably replaced by Rostov in the final draft.

Principal photography on 'The Crossing' ran from Wednesday, January 8 to Thursday, January 16.

 :laugh2:  I like your enthusiasm...or rather, lack of, Dave:lol: :laugh2:

So what'd you all think?

I liked it overall, but of course saw a few things that bugged me:

Why didn't the aliens just take over the crew the moment they found themselves compatible? Why try to convince the crew of anything? They obviously could overpower them all - and if there were hundreds of these wispy things. I don't get it.

How can non-corporeal beings build a corporeal ship... better yet, why would they?

Archer asked Phlox if the entity could live in a dead host (answer=no). I might have missed something cuz I was doing other things while watching the show, but the ability to quickly recover each crew member without resuscitation makes me think they never died - were merely unconscious. If this is the case, why didn't the entity leave Hoshi when she was unconscious? If it's because the crew was actually killed, momentarily, then I find it hard to believe that simply turning back on the air would resuscitate them.

I was kind of confused by this one myself -

Things like - why didn't Enterprise try to help these aliens fix their ship?? Isn't that what they normally do?

I don't get why the non-corporeal aliens would need a corporeal ship either - but it sounds like a 'fits the plot' device...

And why did we only hear about Trip's 'hallucenations' or whatever they were? No one else spoke of their picnics or BBQs or whatever... grrrrrrrr - character favoritism - hate that -

Did find the 'hello, take off your clothes' scene rather amusing though -

but - not enough to make this episode a winner -

What are they doing to this show?

 ya I liked that take off your clothes bit too...though I don't think T'Pol is the most beautiful woman on Enterprise...then again, women aren't my cup of tea... The corperal ship bit, I think is from before whispy guys became whispy guys. They did say they use to be corporal beings. & ya it urked me that Archer didn't even mention whether or not Enterprise had the capability to help repair the whispys' ship. never even thought of the bit about the whisps just taking over at the beginning...

Not only that - but this seemed like a rip from Stargate and the 'whispy' guy who could be corporeal so he could talk to Sam -

I don't know - it's just - weird -

Just random aliens with no reason - they just wanna take over this new ship? Are they gonna show up again later? or is this all we get? b/c if this is it - this was lame -- hello - backstory! we need to know / understand their motivations ----- grrr argh -

hmmm, I didn't think the ep was too bad...but then I watched it while I was jet lagged...still am a bit...didn't think it was that bad....since I didn't dig too deep into the obvious holes ...

I can't say that actually watching this episode made the plot any more endearing to me.

I wondered why the Shuttlepod still had power, even though Enterprise did not. Or how they were able to get the weapons and propulsion working again as soon as the wispy guys got knocked out? Were they meant to be controlling everything with their non-corporeal minds?

I don't think you did miss anything. Notice how people seem to be doing other things while watching these days. I did my ironing last week -- I never used to do anything like that in case I missed anything. Sometimes I would watch it twice!

On the otherhand, the last few eps have been better, and some of the next few sound good, so they are allowed to have the odd bad apple!

As for the CO2 induced unconciousness -- it seemed a little risky to me. And according to this website the signs and symptoms would include:

-- Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, rapid breathing, flushing.

-- Severe cases progress to confusion, convulsions, and loss of consciousness.

It wouldn't be a pretty sight!

Ya, they never show the gross real stuff. "Captain, we've regained control of the ship, but sir, we have a terrible vomit problem all over the place!"

hee hee...or sorry but we have a few casualties & victoms of brain damage from oxygen deprevation...

I haven't commented on any of these eps for a while, so here i am.

I found this one kind of boring, and there were so many plot holes it was like... something with lots of holes. (Sorry, braindead:rolleyes:)

And how come they blew up the alien ship? They could have gotten away, the poor wispy things were only trying to survive. :(

One thing i did like was the scene with T'Pol and Malcolm.

"Please remove your clothing."
"Have you been drinking?" :laugh2:

It was fun to see shy Malcolm acting out of character for once. A horny wisp of light - who would have thought?

yeah i hav to say i found tht bit hilarious, cnt say i liked the rest of the ep that much tho.
BUT anyway i hav to agrree with malcom on t'pol being most beautiful woman on ship, no doubt dude, shes jus like woooah.
Not a great ep tho i must say.
