the role of jonas

personally i ask the question of what they are doing with the role of jonas as they introduce him as the smiling boy that just happens to be a genius, not the like the believable daniel jackson. and now they are bringing back daniel they are putting jonas in a reccuring role. so i ask what was the role of jonas was he just the gap filler while daniel; took a break? and what are his plans for series 7 as he only now before he goes shows a good trait to be in sg1?

Aww, I like Jonas and now with the return of Daniel I fell sorry for him.
I think because this current series was believed to be the last one, the long-term development of Jonas was probably not considered to be a top priority.
However the writers still had to justify why he deserved a place in the SG1 team.
I think that's why the characters been wrote with this "genius" aspect and the ability to pick up things and adapt quickly. This way he can work as a valuable team member. He can do Daniel's job and help Carter with the science too.

I agree Daniel Jackson was/is a more believable, but his character had 5 seasons to progress.
There's no replacement for Daniel but I've enjoyed watching Jonas, especially when he smiles. SG1 have done it all before but to Jonas it's a new adventure and I find his child-like innocence to it all quite sweet

I like Jonas a lot :blush: (I like Daniel more, but what are you gonna do). When they replaced Daniel with him, I was determined to hate him, but I couldn't help but like him.

I really enjoyed watching the relationship he had with Teal'c at first, where they were trying to work out Earths culture. I laughed so much when they went into that bar together. The problem is, they don't seem to have that rapor anymore (or we just don't see it).

He's got a lovely personality, although from the work point of view I dunno how much he really contributes. I'm sure they could live without him. (I guess I could make room for him on my one-woman SGC team, I'll find something for him to do! :upto: ).

They should have replaced Daniel with Kawalski instead , I loved that guy! I hoped he'd stay when he came from the alternate universe but nooooo. Why do they bring everyone else back from the dead but him .

well ded i think that you have a point that jonas is only a temporary character, but dont you think that with the development of season seven that we still receiver aspects of jonas; as he is not totally disapearing.
