As much as I was determined to hate him, he has grown on me and I realised just how much yesterday when they aired Prophecy.
You know, the one where Jonas gets precognitive abilities.

With the confirmation that Daniel would be back for series 7, I thought for a horrible moment they were gonna kill Jonas off in Prophecy and that really upset me. Now for the first time I am concerned about what they are going to do with him when Daniel comes back.

When was the moment you decided you liked Jonas? What do you all think will happen to Jonas in series 7?

Zoe I edited your above post - there was a little mistake in the spoiler tags, so I thought I would swoop in before anyone got spoiled. Hope you don't mind.

I felt neutral on Jonas. Or perhaps I was a little on the positive side, hoping I would like the character, because if I didn't I might get put off the whole show, but overall I was willing to see where his character went and what was going to happen.
I think it is depressingly ironic that he is only going to be recurring next season - just as his character is getting interesting. TPTB really didn't do much for the poor fellow, so if people like him even with his maltreatment then I think he has the potential to become an extremely loved member of the show.

(Plus, Corin is CUTE! Cuter in real life than on the show, anyhoo)

The rumor of MS leaving the show arrived well in advance of seeing the actual departure. Because of the vaguaries of TV scheduling we went from the end of S4 on one network to the beginning of S6 on SciFi without ever seeing any of S5.

So I had to figure out who/what JQ was and his relationship to the other characters without benefit/handicap of seeing "Meridian." I later downloaded some of the critical S5 eps so I could follow what was going on in S6.

After viewing "Meridian" and "Revelations" I felt that the writers had spent no time or effort to make anything of JQ. His terrible faults in his introductions were supposed to be obstacles to be overcome. Instead they became "stuff written that must now be glossed over." Most of S6 has passed with only minimal effort to build JQ beyond his obvious fill-in-for-Daniel role.

Still I have grown to like Jonas and to appreciate how much Corin Nemec has put into a role that was poorly conceived and presented from the start. I don't want to see JQ removed or reduced on SG1. To the criticism that he and DJ would overlap too much, well that's the fault of the writers who have spent a year trying to shove a square peg into a round hole. It would be interesting to see other facets to JQ's character develop and leave the 'overlap' behind -- far behind.

I have to admit, i am a Jonas fan, but i'm also a Daniel, and a Jack fan. When i was obsessive with the X-Files fandom and Mulder left and Doggett was left in his place i had this hatred toward Doggett because i felt like he was an imposter. But then i realized, maybe a little too late, that they are totally different people, different characters etc, Doggett didn't take anything away from Mulder.

And with Stargate i didn't want to make the same mistake of prejudging and so i gave Jonas a chance and i really really adore the guy. And in the same respect as the X-Files, Jonas hasn't taken anything away from Daniel or his character, they are two different characters.

The writers messed up pretty badly, although we could say that they didn't know Michael Shanks would leave and with Jonas being a last minute thing, they didn't have much time for characterization beforehand. I didn't like the way he was pushed to the side this season, but i loved season 6 because i focused on the positives and not the negatives.

The writers have one more season to redeem themselves and learn from their mistakes. :) hope that made sense, sorry for the long winded reply

here, in Romania, they never aired season 4, 5 and 6. recently i purchased a cable modem and hooked up to the CATV. since then i've downloaded every episode from seasons 4, 5 and 6. i've seen them all in like 2 weeks. i didn't have any ideea that Daniel was going to die... well ascend. i was stunned, but the story line was greate, i don't have anything to say against the writers. in my opinion Jonas Queen is a great replecement for the forth member of the team and also (Coring Nemec) is a great actor.
