Nora Ephron has come on board to write Columbia Pictures' feature adaptation of the 1960s sitcom Bewitched, with Nicole Kidman attached to star. Ephron also has an eye to direct, says Variety.

The film, produced by Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher's Red Wagon Productions, is an adaptation of the ABC series that ran from 1964-1972.

The sitcom followed the exploits of Samantha, a witch who -- much to her mother's disdain -- marries a mortal. He discovers her lineage only after they're wed, and she promises to give up witchcraft and become an ordinary suburban housewife.

Ah, I wonder who all the other roles will be filled by? Will Tabitha be in it? Who will play Darren, and the annoying stepmother?
Will Kidman be able to wiggle her nose, or will it be CGI?

I heard a rumour that Jim Carrey was going to play Darren (but thats just a rumor).

Maybe Nicole has the ability to wiggle her nose? I hope they don't give her a fake one like in The Hours!

Oh, Jim Carrey would be a GOOD Darren. I imagine him like his confused Truman Show character, knowing something funny is going on, but not quite being able to get it.

And as for Kidman's nose, I was thinking of making a crack about her schnozz in The HOurs, but decided it was too cruel

What was Samantha's mother called? Angora or something?
bright orange hair and thick make-up. I wonder who would play her?

I've just read that Columbia Pictures' have Mike Myers on the top of their wish-list to play Darrin.

Am a HUGE fan of the 60's series Bewitched, so seeing this thread made my face light up with joy.

I did wonder about your name Tabitha. Wasn't she a cutie on Bewitched. Are you the same?

Shirley MacLaine and Michael Caine are in talks to join the cast of Bewitched, Columbia Pictures' upcoming big-screen adaptation of the classic 1960s fantasy TV show, Variety reported. They will play the mother and father of Samantha the witch (Nicole Kidman) married to the mortal man (Will Ferrell). Endora the meddling mother was originally played by Agnes Moorehead.

According to IMBb, the movie is in post-production and will be released in July. It also says that the plot outline is: A producer remaking the classic sitcom "Bewitched" unknowingly casts an actual witch for the lead role. Not what I was expecting.
