The BBC reminded me of this old stalwart, a precursor to comics like TV 21 and sister to Film Fun of the same time, it ran from 1938-65. I read quite a few because my father loved them.
It featured all the Radio greats of the time from Arthur Askey through Norman Wisdom, encompassing the Falcon, Petula Clarke and Superman. How is that for variety?
At the moment the BBC is running a radio series about this and it may be listened to and learn a little more here http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/comedy/radiofun.shtml
