Hi Blind and welcome to ASciFi, I hope you enjoy yourself here and look forward to more posts from you.
If 'Enterprise' is to be cancelled it's the first I've heard. There has been some strong recent criticism of the series, but it is still very popular compared to other scifi shows, and one of UPN's most popular shows. There has been a survey done that it has less female viewers than other series, which may worry them a little, but isn't that unexpected since they have gone out of there way to make it more appealing to the male 18-30 year old demographic.
I haven't yet read the spoilers on the season 2 finale 'Expanse' but there's talk that this episode will start the redefinition of the NX-01's mission. I could only speculate what Rick Berman means by that but he certainly could only do it in a third season.
Whether 'Enterprise' will last seven seasons is another matter, ratings have been falling severely in season 2, and if this "new direction" turns out to be much the same direction as 'Voyager' went and 'Enterprise' has been going, I think they are likely to fall even further. Read more of the criticisms in the thread in Trek General Discussions.
