We are currently guaging interest in the possibility of producing the Gatecon documentaries on DVD this year.

We currently produce them on VHS only, and there have been requests from people to make it available on DVD.

There is also the possibility that documentaries from our previous conventions (currently only available on VHS) could be made available on DVD as well.

We are currently holding a poll on our website, inviting those who would or would not consider purchasing the doco's on DVD to fill it in so we can guage the popularity of a DVD option.

Please remember, you don't have to attend Gatecon to buy the documentaries. And this poll is only an expression of interest.

I thank you all in advance for your contributions.

Hi

Just an Idea, feel free to delete this post if you don't like the idea.

You might know that I have made 3 Stargate spoofs (They seemed to have done well and i've even had a few emails from the real crew of stargate )

Anyway a sci-fi website in England
ww.sci-fi-online.co.uk
has asked us to give them 5 DVD's of all 3 films, so they can give them away in a competition, so I thought you might want to have the films on your dvd, as a little extra for fans.
i'm not asking for any money and would gladly send you the films on a high quality DV master.

(Someone e-mailed me a while back and asked if he could show the films on monitors at your next show, but he only has the web version ( compressed and not great quality )

If you have not seen them, then all 3 can be downloaded from
http://mysite.freeserve.com/Superteam

thanks for you time.

Hi Leeburt,

Firstly, I have watched your spoofs, and I have to say... Way Cool :D :D :D

It does sound like an interesting idea, but before anything could be done we would need to get full approval that there are no copyright breaches.

The hard thing is, although fan films can be made, I don't think they ca be sold for a profit, and as they would be on a commercial DVD, a profit is being made somewhere.

You would need to obtain a release from the studio before we could include anything like this.

I hae the same problem with the music video's I make for Gatecon. So I can't include them either.

Allan

Hi
thanks for watching them :rolly2:

maybe another idea then, as I know I would find it hard to contact the correct people regarding copyright.

Have the films on shown at the convention, it would be better than the compressed version that some hopes to show.

( don't know if your conventions are like ours in England, we sometimes have a room that just shows episodes all day at the convention)

Either way many thanks for taking the time out to watch and post.
thanks
Lee

Now, that's something that is highly possible...

Send me an email (so I can get your email address) to webmaster@gatecon.com and we will see what we can work out.

I think it would be a blast to show them at the con :)

Allan

I just got the DVDs for Gatecons 2000, 2001, 2002.
And they ROCK!!! Just like being there!

Great Job, Allan!! I can't wait to see you at Gatecon 2003!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D :D :D

Another thing...

Another thing on my 'To Get' list. ;)

Rowan

The DVDs are absolutely gorgeous! 10 times better than the videos & CD pictures!! (Although I didn't see a picture of me in the photo galleries on the DVDs. I was in the photo CD!! Awwww, can't have everything!!)

I guess the photo CD compliment the photo galleries on the DVDs. Different pictures!:D

Question

Wait...the last posts sound like the DVD's are already out. Are they? And if so, how do I get me some of those?! :rolly2: :p ;) :)

DVD's

The 2002 are available, but I'm sure Allan/Gatecon is still sorting out the stuff for the 2003 ones. I have no doubt he'll let folks here know and the info will be on the Gatecon Website when they become available.

I'm currently pushing for a mid to late november release of the 2003 DVD. Hopefully with enough time for Christmas presents.

I've already started going through the footage, and obviously this year will have some GREAT moments (Michael for one, and my favorite... the Super Jaffa :rolly2::rolly2:)

LOL!

That would of have to have been one of my favourite moments. I had chills when the Super Jaffa came out. It was great!

The look on Allan's face was even better! That was just too cool! :)

There was something I was thinking about that would be really great to put on the video/DVD and now I can't remember what it was -- well, aside from Michael, of course ---

I don't know how Allan will ever decide what stays and what goes, there was just so much cool and fun stuff this year!!

Oh - Corin's 'stitches' stories were hilarious! ;)

You gotta put the Absolutly Everybody videro clip on the DVD. That was sooooo excellent. We were singing that song for days. It's like the gatecon song.
