What did you think of the aliens and special effects?
When the show aired the budget was £1m per episode. Slomo (the robot) cost £50,000 to make. A police cruiser cost £200,000. Gerry Anderson said that:
“Every last pound is on the screen,†he said. “Despite the size of the budget, we have still had difficulty in bringing what we brought to the screen with the money available.â€
Yet when the show was broadcast it recieved a lot of criticism for looking... how can I put this... well... ****. Just wondered what everyone else thought. I personally think that the critics got to the stage where they were just being nasty for nasty's sake. I admit that some of the work with models is shockingly bad in places and the effects can be patchy. But on the whole I thought that the show was grand the way it was... the budget was well spent.
Another random little fact for you - one episode of Space Precinct cost four times what an episode of Thunderbirds did. Now, isn't your life enriched? :aliengray
